babblers was the 4ths wepon of the old gorge in version 1.04 it consisted of a gorge spittin out low armour/hp skulks that would attack and then explode after a set time it was a loved wepon by many
yea, and when 5-6 gorges with adrenalin came, and they got 3 hives up, every base was doomed >_< babblers died fast, but u could put 4 or 5 if ur adren bar was full .. and it took ~15 seconds untill they exploded.. so there were like 10 babbler when u shot none of em, 10 per gorge <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> that was kinda fun seen thos babbler trying to climb up the rines, they were dead in 2 sec, and HAs didnt even take longer ... /remembering_off ;D
They were vicious and it was like the gorge equavalent of a knife kill because they did so little damage.
Like shoker lizards in d and d, crap by themselves, scary in large groups. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> and you couldn`t recognise the real skulks in hoard of 10 babblers
Babblers the ultimate gorge defense. You could take out a HA with babblers just one gorge using it. Well unless the gorge has some cover (Defense chambers near and some offense chambers or something like that). Hmm 14v14 ns game 3 hives 14 alien gorges, marines with only one base. All gorges running in with like 80 skulks running around (This is impossible because it would crash or somehow luckly only lag the server horriblely but just imagine). I mean one gorge could take out one heavy with the help of 3 skulks coming out of the gorge every 2 sec.

But yeah, babblers were insane. Removed, sadly, soley due to the buggy behaviour and serious server lag.
You people must not have played the version 1.00's. Babblers sucked.
They had huge pathing issues, did little to no damage, and lagged the game.
They were the most ineffectual thing ever introduced into NS, and although they were FUN to play around with, they were too buggy and awful to leave in.
Poor Babblers.
AND THEY NEVER BABBLED! NO FLAY WE WILL NOT FIND OUT WHAT THAT MEANS!

Webs + bile bomb! Only bad thing is that it is hard to web and attack things like HA as a gorge so HA vs gorge the HA would win (unless the gorge runs) but if there is just a skulk helping the gorge. Gorges = teh win!
Only any good if you team has one other teamplayer though <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'd LOVE to see babblers + lerklift!
Didn't a babbler explosion do significant damage? I remember the babbler normal attack did almost nothing but the explosion from a babbler did do some damage didn't it? Like 50 or 100 to buildings?

How and when this happened was random, and I could never get it to work. But yeah, xeno does huge damage against structures.
Babblers were very weak because: 1. One gorge was limited to launching 4 babblers at once. 5th babbler immidiately killed the 1st, 6th killed the 2nd and so on. 2. Babblers had huge pathfinding issues, so they almost always got stuck long before reaching their target. 3. Babblers were incredibly weak, both attack and health wise. They died from 2-3 hits of lmg, and a single upgraded hmg bullet, they did barely double-digit damage with their explosions (bite was even weaker), and their suicide explosion had effectively zero range.
The only two redeeming aspects of babblers were the ability to launch them from vents without ever being threatened by the enemy and their model, which made a perfect mask for skulks. Marines could ignore babblers in the middle of combat as a minor threat, but mix a couple of skulks with those four babblers and suddenly marines don't know where to shoot.

Oh that would be godly...
When lerklifting, the gorges spit should become babblers. That would be sweet.
Edit: Wait a sec, why are they called "babblers"? Do they babble?

webbing then babbling to death
cover for skulks
being attacked by your own babblers
It's what can be described as good times, and I do miss babblers
<-- old perma gorge
Gorges are not useless in combat!
With a good team gorges COMPLETELY OWN!!!!
