<div class="IPBDescription">Yes, I followed guidelines...please read</div> Ok, first off, YES, I installed NS correctly. Only one nsp folder, I ran half-life training mission before anything else and installed all versions in correct order.
The problem: I get a "Your map differs from the servers" error while connecting to ANY server (haven't actually tried every single one but tried many) that are currently playing certain maps. The only two I remember off the top of my head are ns_eclipse and ns_veil. Now obviously eclipse is a very classic map and should work. I believe some combat ones and quite a number of other maps as well give me this error.
I've tried deleting the nsp folder and reinstalling ns and reinstalling without deleting ns to no avail...it has yielded no change in behavior. I know this topic has been mentioned before because I DID search for an answer on all the forums...but nothing gave any straight answers. I have NOT tried d/ling 2.0 and working my way patch by patch up to 3.4a which seemed to work for someone apparently. Anyhow, anyone know how to solve this?
(This has been mentioned as a bug in the bug reporting forums)
Thanks!

EDIT: By the way, I CAN play ns but just certain maps don't work.

NS 2 is totally independant of NS 3; NS3 is stand-alone.
You do NOT need Ns 3 beta 2 or beta3.
Beta1, then 4, then 4a patch.
Depending on when you read this, it may now be:
Beta1, Beta5.
But that's being hopeful. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
EDIT: Sp.
this fixes all problems with conflicting versions (aka map.bsp and client.dll errors)
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->1) Install Steam.
2) Play HL atleast Once via Steam (just booting up the training mission will do).
3) Download these 3 files:
ns_install_v3_b1.exe
ns_v30_b4_patch.exe
ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe
4) Install NS V3.0 Beta 1 (ns_install_v3_b1.exe) (This should auto install to steam\steamApps\your@email\half-life\nsp, if it does not, move the NSP folder there).
5) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4 (ns_v30_b4_patch.exe) (point this at steam\steamApps\your@email\Half-Life\ do NOT include the NSP).
6) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4a (ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe) (See * at bottom).
7) Search your Hard drive(s) for folders named nsp.
8) If you have more than one you messed up. Goto Step 3.
If you folow these steps properly you will not get client.dll or map.bsp errors.
If you are positive you have folowed them corectly then redownload the installer form a different location.
*There aslo seems to be a bug with, atleast some of, the 4a installers. Try pointing it at steamApps\your@email\ instead of steamApps\your@email\half-life
Note: This is a file stored on my desktop because I have to use it so many times.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
