This looks like a great community!

I like the NS art and fan-fiction section.

My favorite character is being a heavy marine,....just hearing the "thunk, thunk, thunk" when you walk gives me shivers.     I am not very good as a fade. My strong points are as a gorge, and a skulk. As a marine I rock at following orders and acting on offense. I have no experience as a commander, but I want to try. Yet people can get so angry if u mess up as a comm, they insult you and kick you out.     You could try bots in your own server or just become a regular on a server so they don't get all angry at you ifyou mess up. Good luck on commanding lol.

    I strongly suggest that you tell everyone on your team that you're new and you want to try commanding. Try this with every server you join until you find an agreeable group. Generally speaking, if you tell everyone up front that you're new and you want to learn, they'll be very helpfull and willing to train you.

    I recommend digging around in the Frontiersman Strat forum for commanding tips and hints. First thing you should learn as a com is a general strat you are comfortable with, and most importantly the early game. The first few buildings you get and the techs you research give your team their best impression of your commanding skills, and also can make our break the game. For instance, if you place turrets right from the start, you'll most likely be voted out.

    In general, a solid opening is to get an ip (2 if the team is >7), armory, arms lab, 2+ rts outside of base (depends where you send your marines and what the map is) and research armor 1 and adv. armory asap. Drop a pack of mines for base defense too, that'll keep spawncampers away hopefully.

    A mic.
    A basic knowledge of the map (names of areas where res are and hives).
    You need to see someone else doing bad as comm, so you know what not to do.

    There was a good server called The Sandbox where you could practice being a comm and rine. Dunno if it's still up.
