Woohoo! Look out, TFC!

Btw, isn't it funny how NS has several hundred more players than DoD, and yet DoD has almost three times as many servers? Just goes to show, all NS needs is some time for people to discover it, and it'll be near the top in no time.

CS is a very tough nut to crack, though.

Thats incredible.. I can't believe a mod released so late into Half-Life's life (HAHAROROFLFflfs,al;,sf.//.) could be so popular.

It's pretty cool that the specialists has been out for a week and it's already 7th.

Yeah the thing with cs-players is that many of them are more fanatical than muslim terrorists. I have suggested several cool mods for several cs-players and its just no no no. And no. Impossible to reason with.

    no non onno

    guys look at the stats

sure, plenty of CS servers and palyers, but look at the Ratio's

You got 5 times as many NS players as Servers, that is better then all the rest on that list, what does this mean? The only thing we need are more servers, and good ones

Cause it is hard as hell to find a good server, most right now can't hold more then 12 or 14 people, and even then ping like 300 and above

You have to consider that players of DoD, CS or TFC are poeple that play the game regularly, while NS has been just released and everyone is eager to try it. Many poeple will just play for a few weeks and than decide if they like it or not. NS has the potential to be the 2nd most played Half-Life mod, but not to beat CS (NS requires too much thinking and teamplay is a must = not good to attract fragwhores).

The main reason why I don't like CS is that it's become Quake. Or UT, if you will. The game is most certainly not ruled by those who adapt well to different situations or utilize tactics. It's ruled by those with 1337 41|\/|1|\|g 5k1llz0rz and those who have the recoil system of CS coded into their spinal nerves. Oh, and the recoil system is horrible when compared to, for instance, Day of Defeat.

TFC's pretty cool tho', although everyone knows it hasn't got the same feel the original Team Fortress had years back.

Anyway, I'd be happy to see the 1st and 2nd places to NS and DoD. In which order? Dunno. Currently my fave games are NS and AvP2 - both being sci-fi shooters that have more (NS) or less (AvP2) tactics and strategy elements to them. But a while ago my thing was the several WW2 shooters, and DoD was the first mod ever to make me go really *Wow!*.

    no.

The NS community is above that sort of thing. We are all a pretty mature lot here. Besides, some NS players play DOD too. There's nothing wrong with that: Different games for different tastes...

Go NS! I'd have been happy just to see it in the top 10 HL mods... but the top 3?

No wonder every other server I see is full...
  • BillBill Join Date: 2002-08-08 Member: 1108Members
What is "COUNTERSTRIKE"? Wow, the Hl community seems to have changed a lot since I last checked, I'm surprised that games like FLF and AHL aren't even listed there, and are apparently being beat by a game called "Vampire Slayer".

Don't go bash DoD please, I love that mod. It's really fun, and involves some teamwork (not as much as NS, but NS makes you do it, unlike other mods).

Also, please don't bash CS, I like that mod. All my friends play it (Hell, we even have a CS clan).

And Bill, I agree. It's weird theres no ALH or FLF. But do you know how hard it is to actually find somone hosting a FLF server? Last night I got only two (with my filters on, and I live in europe).

There definetly should be more servers for NS, especially in europe. (I hate those guys who think they can host a 20man server with ADSL. PLEASE THINK AGAIN! 5000+ ping???)

I think that would be the beauty of doing it. =P

The thing is, Counterstrike is far more accessible than Natural Selection. Considering how easy it is to play, the fact that Valve has officially retailed it, the length of the games... In reality, it's the casual gamer's dream, and the fact is that there are more casual gamers that get on for say 15 minutes at a time, than those that are able to dedicate themselves to a full 2 hour games.

    That's Counterstrike's edge. I still don't like it though.

Bill: I myself have wondered what exactly "COUNTERSTRIKE" is. If you want something in the vein of AHL that people still play, try the Specialists. I think it's far superior to AHL, but that's me. And Vampire Slayer is actually alot of fun.

During peak hours, (4-10 PM EST) there will probably be 2 or 3 with people playing. (FLF has an equal euro playerbase as american playerbase.) Also, if you can figure out which servers are popular (FOE, Spies, Cosa, FIRM, IFH) if you join them even when they're empty, more people will inevitably join.
Edit: whoops, didn't see you lived in europe. Well, I don't know the popular euro servers. Still, joining the aforementioned ones does work pretty well (and you can get some really fun games going with a 4v4)

    It's gettin rather popular.

I can't see it getting bigger than CS ( it's too complex for one thing...)

But it is awfully good and I can see it becoming a fab clan-type game....

Actually one of the things I like most about it is the way you can start a game and have NO IDEA if the game will end in a 5-min bitchslap or a 3 hour stand off.....that's odd and I've never seen that before....

    pld chaps.

i wouldnt go claiming it as anything major.

Its a new game, lots of people are trying it.

Id say youll see NS sink to a semi-perminant spot at 4, behind CS then dod and TFC.

I love this game, but i dont think it will beat dod in the long run.

Yeah, but in terms of player numbers , thats quite impressive...it IS major....and I reckon it will have HUGE potential, publics might be dodgy, but this has sooooooooo much potential for organised team/clan games......

    Just my opinion of course..

btw, we are gonna have a few, will let you know how we got on...

It's going to get bigger if the dev team keeps doing such a great job on the mod.
