WON isnt down, at least when it comes to servers like jigglypuff and Fusion Voice.
Doesn't Sierra own the WON servers anyways?
<a href='http://www.won.net' target='_blank'>http://www.won.net</a> says so
I love how they (valve) tried to push a bogus client patch. Yeah right, WHY do I need to patch my client? WHY? Oh maybe so you can block WON locally on my machine instead of actually shutting down the servers maybe? Maybe? Yes... I think so.
I pity those who download that client side patch. It will be annoying always hitting Cancel but oh well... I like 2.0

Why would sierra shut down their WON servers for HL? Why?
They STILL make money from people buying HL. Not to mention it would cause a lot of confusion for people when they install HL and want to play it online but suddenly cant because they have to install steam... WTH? Steam? Steam didnt come with HL.
So you say give it another week? NO PROBLEM.
I wont post one of about 100 links to where Valve states that the servers will by down by the 31st. See how its the 1st? Hell, its the 1st in Hawaii right now.... do they mean on Pluto?
Time will tell but I WILL and I mean WILL expect an apology.

Sierra was their distributing branch, and by ridding of them, they could make steam and rid of won, therefore they can become bill gates and make lots of money by not paying for other people's services. Sierra took care of patches for valve, but since steam dont need anyone to put it out on the internet, they can now just toss it in steam on a click of a button and its out.
Simple: Because Valve ended their contract about multiplayer gamehosting with them.
Really, the Valve-bashing is getting ridiculous. First, you complain about WON being shut down, now, you demand an apology for it taking a little longer?
