Question:
Answer:
I found myself getting confused by which was which...
No.
Interviews aren't meant to inform, they are meant to create unsubstantiated hype.
Can't seem to glean anything new and interesting from it.. nothing the bugfix list couldn't tell you, anyway. Thanks for the link though.
<Question> - Can't say
<Question re: beta5> - Minor balance changes and bugfixes only.

...and since when was NS 'designed for 6v6'?
Poor.
Somehow, I found that line rather disturbing.
Sigh. Looks like it's still just unchained servers for me.

That's because they are horrendously unbalanced.
no there isin't much interesting in there, however it is still an interview, and 2 people took the time to do it, so cut em some slack.
As for the Constie remark?
yah, they still need $$ (few of the people actualy involved in NS have jobs, and those that do have jobs generaly end up having to quit NS)
Anyway, what's with the extreme negativity towards this interview and the site that hosted it? Is that really necessary? Cut them some slack, it's still better than nothing.
Or, at the very least, it isn't worse than nothing.
Nice try. No.

Funny... I can't seem to recall this ever being stated by a developer.
Ever.
...and alas my searches for 'designed for' and '6v6' filtered by member 'Flayra' on any date displayed nought of interest.
Perhaps you can point me in the direction of some proof? Most seem to claim this lot simply because it was how clans in other games played. It may even be that it's most balanced at 6v6, but I highly doubt it was 'designed' to be unbalanced at everything else... in fact designing it for any specific number is a poor way to go about making such a game.

What are the essential competitive rules at least?
Here are the basics, as the NS team designed the game for:
1. Tournament mode on (mp_tournamentmode 1)
2. Teams of six (6v6). Each side plays both alien and marine at least once.

Because we all know the console is evil ! : )
