I was on vactaion resently and when i got home i decided to play a little of my favorite game..NS. So i sat down started NS and to my serprize i get a message, something about NS is out of date and needs to be updated. Ok i say so i go to update it, wait for it to veryify and what happens? "Your NS exacutable is out of date but there are no updates. Its...out of date but theres no upgrades? WTH!? how can it be out of date but have NO upgrades. Then it hit me NS 3.0...and...the horrid STEAM! I say this to all the STEAM fans(if there are any) I hope you enjoyed ruining NS for the hundreds of WON players! But wiat it gets better, i sit there kinda mad,... a little sad... and i may have even cryed a bit (jk) then i decide, for my love of NS, i would download Steam and play NS 3.0. So i do, and guess what? STEAM tells me, "your CD key is invalid". Now im mad, my CD key is NOT invalid I BOUGHT my copy of HL from the store, in its original case! So heres my story, and my question as well,.. WHY DID U HAVE TO MAKE 3.0 FOR STEAM? and why did 2.01 and WON have to suffer the affect as well, i mean it wouldnt be so bad if we WON fans could still play the 2.0's on WON while the 3.0 players played on STEAM. Is that such a bad idea?

And also, NS 3.0 was developed for Steam because there's little point developing it for WON due to it's impending shut down.
*EDIT: Yeah, and what butt-force said too.
Edit: The two posts above me said it all.
First off, WON is down.
2nd off, if your CDkey is invalid, e-mail VALVe with a thing saying your cdkey and that you are wondering why steam believes its invalid.
Lastly, steam is better than WON, period, and believe me, its been discussed hundreds of times, but every time steam wins out. Its advantages FAR outway the disadvantages, especially considering WON.
Since this was the only all-caps question in your post, I'll address it specifically. Whether you prefer Steam or WON, NS on Steam is better than no NS at all.
Everything else I think I would've said has been mentioned in posts above.
