In the future, everything is made out of plastic and metal and light loses the ability to bounce causing harsh shadows perfect for zombie-horror atmoshpere.

If you don't like it, don't use it.
If you think it is more sensible to not have to switch between your torch light and your guns like a mad man, use the mod.
its also there to add a slightly tactical element.. will you see what lerks beyond at the cost of becoming temporarily vounerable.

In the dark areas you can't really see where you are going. You <b>have</b> to use the torch light to know where you are going. It is not really a tactical or atmosphere thing.
Any way, feel free to ignore this and continue switching.

in that .3 milliseconds many times i have had one of those flame guys (imp if i remember correctly) fly out of nowhere at me when i open a door.
this is the scariest game ive ever played, mostly because you cant see whats goin on unless your light is out, and when its out you cant shoot at all!
i would say that if they added a light to any weapon it should only be the pistol, and you should just be able to hold the light and the pistol, 2 hands ya know. it would give much more use for the pistol, right now i barely use it and have a ton of ammo.
but if there were a mod for the light with the pistol, i still probably wouldnt use it.

and when you pick up a roll of duct tape we need the quake3 "quaddamage" voiceactor saying " DUCT TAPE!!! "

In a haunted house they dont have all the lights on so you can what is going on, that would ruin the fun of it.
In Horror movies they dont occur in broad daylight because whats so scary about that.

In a haunted house you don't spend 10 minutes wandering the corridors looking for a fricken PDA because the level designers shut off all the lights.
It isnt a ducktape mod its him adding the flashlight on effect lines from the flash light script to the guns scripts at the bottum, there are no model replacements. You can tell this becouse theres only one type of cone.... Hell just to say it none of the animations are part of the models in this game, and the models are uncompiled (the engine compiles almost everything in the game in realtime).
Im sick of seeing these freaking people claming to make mods when the sdk isnt even out. There just eidting **** around to **** up your doom3.
Sorry to go a bit offtopic but Iv been meaning to get this off for a while.
The co-op pack was **** all he did was enable the singleplaer maps on multi-player deathmatch. He didnt even edit the maps so that your game doesnt get **** up, like the doors that lock behind you and how you cant access your pda in multi-player.

Actually, nothing looks like plastic anymore. They toned that effect WAAAAAY WAAAAAY DOWN. Heres a great example:

None of the monsters have it anymore either, except on the metal parts of their body.

the tiny itty bitty little super bright light cone on my shotgun and machinegun only serves to BLIND ME while highlighting my crosshair. whoop de doo!
my eyes start to adjust to the darkness but now ive got this stupid rediculously bright spot in the center of the screen, and its too small to see anything with.

Gamespot has it right if you ask me...I really like Greg Kasavin, everything he said in that review is absolutely correct. I like Doom 3, but if it only had average graphics there would be no atmosphere and no one would play it. This game definitely isn't a perfect 10/10 and really probably not even worthy of a 9; the only reason I play this game is because it looks so good and I like to stare at the graphics. Monsters materializing behind you is so stupid and I've always disliked games that do that...they're compensating for a lack of creepiness by cheap thrills like a monster appearing out of nowhere or leaping once you open a door.
