Deus Ex Story

what happened?
Ok so i'm playing invisible war and I hear mention of J.C Denton. What exactly happened in the first game? They call him a terrorist in this version and say he's responsible for the "collapse." Instead of going back and playing all of the first one can someone briefly tell me the outcome of it's story?

Well, basically you destroy Echelon in Area 51 which has ALL global communication going through it, this shuts down any contact to the outside world from EVERYWHERE esentialy putting the world into anarachy, this is after Dentton merged with the Helios AI giving him godly abilities and he kills Bob Page.
Correct me if im wrong. Also where ware you in the game enforcer? because if you would me to i can tell you where to find some unique weapons.
I know, it's a travesty. I just finished Deus Ex a few weeks ago; anyone who has missed out on that game has missed out on the best single player experience ever created by man. Deus Ex is amazing.
Not everything with a "2" behind the name is better.
DeusEx is a incredible game, invisible war is just not what it should be

and the sad thing is most people wouldnt have gotten this game if it didnt come with the video cards / sound cards i got 2 copies of the game 1 came with my video card and 1 came with my soundcard
I mean, is unified ammo really something that makes you all so bitter? Deus Ex 2 is without a doubt the most open-ended game I've ever played.
I enjoyed playing it, but when I compare it to Deus Ex I break out in nervous laughter that soon degenerates into tears of pure woe.
What could have been, oh, what could have been.
to be perfectly honest with you, both times I've beaten the first deus ex, I rarely used biomods at all (excepting regeneration and the speed/fall damage leg enhancements). I never really felt that sense of building one's character, I'm sad to say Even skill-wise, the only musts were security, electronics, and some computer skills. Hell, for three quarters of the game I used the dragon's tooth almost exclusively (so weapon skills weren't even necessary).
Ah well - to each his own, I s'pose

It's same with both Deus Ex games, because you're never forced to take any skills, mods etc they has to be a way through the game without using any of them, so while you could use 3 multitools to open a grate or hack a security computer or something theres always an option to just use a door incase you didn't pick them up, which makes the game really easy. Not that it matters, but in DX1 the extra skill points from using more covert entry points etc gave you a reason to get them. While in DX2 they just throw Bio mods at you left and right. I had about 16 spare by the end of the game, which compared to DX1 where there was barely enough to max out most of your mods, and you only got those if you did alot of exploring etc.
DX2 is still a great game on it's own. But compared to the original it just seems rushed and half finished.
343: I've just started, basically I'm just about to go into lower seattle. I've got an SMG, shotgun, some non-lethal dart gun thing and pistol with a few mods.
I'm really liking this game so far, I suppose i'll like 1 better.
It continues after both the "good endings", J.C killed Bob Page and then merged with Helios, but that triggered the Collapse (New Dark Age), destroying the communications network and leaving J.C with "Superpowers" but in a coma.
Actually, it's apparently a strange mixture of all three.

I haven't actually heard anyone who played both like deus ex invisible war better. Not even my mother, and she loves most senseless run and gun singleplayer games without much depth to them(ack!).
In lower seattle in the sewers where the Krakans are you'll find a pistol with infra red torch and in the apartments, look underneath a pillow in the apartment one door down to Nassif, there should be a man inside, kill him and take the poison knife underneath his pillow.

I picked up the infared pistol but I can't figure out the difference except for the nifty red light.
The demo I played from MacAddict was kind of shoddy, but when I actually got the game I fell in love with it as soon as I finished the first mission.

Yeah.. I had Deus Ex for about a year before getting into playing it.. The first time I installed it I kept playing the first mission and going "Okay, what the hell is going on here?".. Then I finally decided to try again (A year later) and after realizing the general openendedness of the missions, fell in love with it..

Aye, I played the first mission (although the game sorta flows together) and didn't touch it for a few months. Everyone kept ranting so I went back, got absorbed, and fell in love.
