A Counter-strike update? Could somebody load up a test server and <b>confirm this for other Half-life mods please?</b>

(It would be so very cool to have this bug dead forever.)

By Counter-Strike update, they mean Half-Life engine update, I hope.

The hitbox moves BEHIND them anyway.

And yes, that is what the fuss is about. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

No with a bugged hb it moved in front of the visible player. The problem was the hb being rendered at a totally different spot from the player model. It's actually a lagged player model problem and not a lagged hitbox problem.

I've only seen one person in the bugged slot so far, and they weren't experienced enough in the game to know how to abuse it very well, so I'm not sure if this is fixed or not.

well, to be semantically correct, the news posting on steampowered said that STEAM will update ITSELF, and they just happened to mention CS/CZ not say that it was going to update those games.

    heres for hoping.....

Wasnt this one of two bugs holding up the b5 release.. if so, whats the status of the other one?
  • BlueNovemberBlueNovember hax Join Date: 2003-02-28 Member: 14137Members, Constellation
It couldn't have been holding up the release as it's a steam bug.

(And I could have sworn the hitboxes lag... D'oh.)

Any way i read it, i'm getting that its only for CS/CS:CZ.

Can someone confirm if this fix affects half-life?

They mis-spoke. The patch downloads for Half-Life as well, and presumably all other games.

Way to go grep, Ari, Tyr, and all the others that helped find this one. It really was an impressive detective job. Once you guys narrowed it down, it took almost no time to find and fix the bug (I think Matt Boone fixed it in minutes).

    Hallelujah!

Alfred has stated that this fix covers all mods, tho from the way the news page was written I can understand why people were thinking it was for CS/CZ only..

Yes, a new engine was released to fix the lag compensation fix (which
    all mods share).

Hmmm, improving and fixing are 2 different things.
  • RaVeRaVe Join Date: 2003-06-20 Member: 17538Members
Well, it's because lag compensation for the last player was....lacking for some reason. I guess it was because the player which triggers the "full" server and receives the last slot on the server had some sort of conflicting code or somewhat in the netcode.

So they had to improve it.

    Just a general analogy from someone who doesn't program and do netcode though <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Lol, i can't belive i didn't see that earlier.
I've just played a gather were someone was forced to perm gorge beacuse we thought he had the bugged slot. PSHB is fixed though =/
Ahhh well, they won anyway, stupid reloc.

has anyone here actually TESTED to make sure they really did fix it...i mean we can all assume but until there is feedback then we will have no way of knowing...considering that people in the other mod communities had little to no knowledge of the bug in the first place it would stand to reason that they would have no way of knowing if it got fixed correctly
