The movie industry has so demolished my soul that I can no longer see a movie trailer and think anything better than "That one might not suck too bad"... this movie didn't even get that. I knew this movie was going to suck from the moment it was announced, just like I know that if the metroid movie ever materializes it will suck, big hairy donkey balls.
Face it, the movie industry no longer has any need for good movies because if they hype the bad ones enough they still come out ahead.
Why the hell would you go to see a movie and say 'I think it'll be pretty bad'. YOU'RE GIVING MONEY TO A MAN TELLING HIM 'GRATS ON MAKING A SUCKY FILM BUT WE'RE TOO STUPID TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE'. It sucks. Don't waste money to see it, he doesn't deserve a dime.
If you ever need a reason to support Piracy, it's movies like this.
Lets all punish paul anderson for this by not paying to go see this pile of crap then when it flops no film producers anywhere will touch him again for anything with a 20 foot stick.
No, the kids will love it, and like every other film he's made the money will roll in, and the big execs will instantly think of him for the next game to movie project.
Again, as I've said in other threads, get ready for Natural Selection - A Paul Anderson film.
Edit - read the spoiler review. Did I or did I not say "Code Red: The Rubicon Conspiracy". I thank you all for acknowledging my prophetic skills.
If you can't make a 2 minute trailer look good, logic states that theres no chance your going to make a 2 hour movie look any better. This has been proven time and time again.

Its completely ridiculous. First, they tell us they will make a movie about a game, and ofcourse were skeptical. Deep down we hope it will be cool and live up to how great the game was. Nope, not only does it suck horribly, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game(resident evil anyone?). I mean, I never was expecting this movie to have anything to do with either PC AVPs. We couldn't expect it to be anything like either of the movie franchises, Alien(s) was a scary movie about a colonylike group of aliens just trying to propagate their species, where Predator was about alien hunters coming for trophies. I never planned on seeing this movie, if anything DL(even that may not be worth doing) or just wait to watch it for free on tv.
At least the new resident evil movie is trying to make up for its mistakes, having some characters from RE 3. Jill, from stars will be in it, though this still might have nothing to do with the game character Jill. Same goes for Carlos and Nicholai from UCBS. They may be tipping their hats to code veronica with a "Dr. Ashford" though I don't think its supposed to be Alexander, or whoever one of those crazy bastards was. I for one think they've tainted the RE movies chances way to much with the first one so, bleh.
Congratulations Paul! You too have now won yourself an exclusive spot on Renegade's Exclusarific Hit-List! I hope to see you soon <span style='font-size:5pt;line-height:100%'>before you see me</span>!

Personally, I think that movies made from games SHOULD have nothing (or at least very little) to do with the games. Take for instance Metroid, if you sat and watched 2 hours of a hot woman running around in a totally non-revealing outfit shooting at stuff and collecting things, you think you would enjoy it? Very doubtfull.
No, the only way to do a movie from a game is to keep general themes, invent a whole new plot, and maybe throw a few things in for the game fans. I've been off work for a while now and getting really really bored, mostly I played jumper 2, but a couple of times I tossed around some ideas for how I would do a Metroid movie. Let me tell you, it'd be very little like the game. Oh, thered be space pirates, samus, ridley and kraid. But other than that it would have a very un-made-from-a-game feel. The only hint that it ever was a game would be a few lines of dialog ("You know, around here the doors will open even if you don't shoot them"). Yeah, good thing I'm not a filmmaker...
IT doesn't matter if certain people don't go see it, it will still be popular with the angst ridden, pre-teen, suburban ghetto, smack talking junior high kids that drop like a rock with a good solid size 11 combat boot to the face...
In other news, people expecting Hollywood to make a movie to entertain a minority. They made AvP because of the casual gamer that played any of the AvP games, not for the few thousand fan-boys that will criticize every small insignificant detail in the movie because it doesn't follow already set storylines. WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT OF MAKING A MOVIE THEN IF IT WAS A CARBON COPY OF SOMETHING ELSE?
"If you set your expectations low enough, you will never be disappointed. And I haven't been disappointed by anything yet!"

Most of us arn't annoyed about inconsistancies with the official storyline. We're annoyed that the movie just looks plain awful.

i think i sense a trend here. and it's not one i like.
Example:

Anyway, things could be worse. Imagine a Counter-Strike movie directed by Uwe Boll with ingame footage for CGI.
My sister's gone to see it, I'll ask her about it when she gets back.

2nd The Trailer -- WTH? Pyramid in Antarctica? How cliche, but oh well, still looks promising
3rd PG13 rating -- You gotta be freaking kidding me. It's not a horror movie? It's an action thriller? OK, may be it's a good action thriller.
Latest trailer -- Predator wrestling with aliens. Alien shooting the acid from the tail. "An enemy of my enemy is my friend." Ok, that does it.
