Location, Radar And Gamma.

where are you and whats up with radar
Hi i eeen playing NS since it came out and think the mod is great, theres a few problems of course, but nothing major...especially for the 1st beta..

Anyway three things i want to bring up which is stopping me from fully experienceing the game are gamma, locations and radar.

1: Gamma. For some reason when i laoded up Natural selection for the first time, the gamma was way too bright. I lowered the gamma bar in video options all the way down but the game is way too bright and i cant see everything clearly. Every other HL game i play/played looks cool the way they are, but in NS its too bright and the contrast up too much, and i dont know how to fix it. So if any tips, please reply

2: Locations. Simple useage, but Day of Defeat uses %l in chat or team say to display your location. NS would benefit from this as maps as large, maze like and have weird locations...like subverstible(sp?) try writing that when your under attack =/

Will anything like this be added in the future?

3: Radar. Sometimes my radar doesnt show up at all. Maybe when i first load up the game, but it soon just displays a grey and white box, like someone selected it and used a gradient tool from photoshop.

Im a good commander, but with no radar its no fun and hard to follow

So any ideas on this would be good ta.

I havent searche dfor similar threads cos i going to work and jsut signned up for account, so opefully when i get home tonight there will be loads of helpful and constructive replies and no flames

ta

bye

i would really like to see some commands like %L %h %i etc for NS. from time to time i find it rather difficult to describe where and in what situation i am.

Um, the game tells you where you are. Down on the bottom left side. It gives you the name of where you are. If its not showing up you might want to post in the tech support.

well see thats why i said its hard writing the locations, i wouldnt know what they are if they werent in the bottom left corner

But adding them to chat takes too long.

How many times have i seen

"Marines at Hive defend it quick!"

The marines might not be attacking the actual hive, but defenses, and the onscreen radar doesnt alway show whats happening until you spin in circles for about 30 secs.

"Resource Node found at %l setting up defense perimeter (%h)"

would be great and make it easier for the commander to find them and also other team members.

To get my gamma fixed (as a marine my radar was also white, now it's quite readable but still pretty bright), I found that I had to run thru the adobe gamma program that came with photoshop (look in the control panel if you have it installed), and then I had to run thru natural selection's gamma adjustment slideshow type thing.

As for adobe's gamma program, I ran thru the wizard that came with it, you can get photoshop at www.adobe.com.

For natural selection's gamma slideshow thing, it should come up after you install, obviously you need to run it again so look in :

start -> programs -> natural selection -> Tune Monitor for Optimal Gamma

So while it's not perfect, it's at least clearly readable (for the most part).
