Life is an overated game that sucks. No continue, no walkthrough, absurd subscription fee, predictable ending, badly animated, a pain to modify your character's design, origins, and stats, half of the game is spent on downtime.
Avoid LIFE at all cost, play NS, City of Heroes.
I'll give you a hint about this game before I leave,
Yes, life is a game...I have been searching my entire life for the cheat codes!
Because one day I'll be a successful author with a big house and a beautiful wife and an Outrun cabinet where my children will be conceived, born and educated.

i live off the thought that someday, someday ill get out of this basement and travel to a magical far away place, where the sun is always shining and the air smells like warm root beer, and the towels are oh so fluffy, where the shriners and the lepers play their ukuleles all day long and anyone on the street will glady shave your back for a nickel
Well, because people are so interesting, for one thing! (By "people", I'm including non-human animals, too.) It's fun to observe things. I've got everything that I need, and though I want more, I enjoy what I have.
I like to make other people happy, too. This is a big source of happiness for me, too. Making other people happy makes me happy.

There's no inherent meaning to life. The Big Bang flung stuff around the universe, through gravitation, matter condensed and stars ignited, burned while creating new elements and died out. Later generations of stars collected matter in orbit around them, which coalesced into planets. Quite by accident, a complex molecule became able to replicate itself. Slight variaitions occurred, resulting in some copies that were better able to survive and copy themselves. Give natural selection a few billion years and here we are.
A result of this process is that all living organisms have an intense, innate desire to survive. Humans also have a desire to feel important; it took a while to shake off the idea that the Earth was the center of the universe. What sounds better? Scenario A: When you die you're gone and your life had no profound meaning. Scenario B: When you die, you don't actually go away, you get to live in happiness for eternity, and also an all powerful God cares personally about you and has a plan for you. Well Scenario B sounds real nice. People want to have a purpose, and people want to survive. The instinct for survival is so deeply ingrained that many people simply choose to accept Scenario B. Is there any objective reason to pick B? No. People believe because they want to believe. It's hard to accept that you're just a tiny speck on another tiny speck that's orbiting another speck that's in a spiral arm of another speck that you can barely see when you look at all there is.
Purpose is an entirely human construct. Any human purpose in life is simply constructed by humans. I wouldn't say my life has a purpose, but that doesn't stop me from having an outlook on life: have fun and don't be a jerk. I can totally understand why people make up a purpose to their life. I'm not proud to say it, but the only reason I'm not religious right now is my complete inability to deceive myself.
Err wow, that seemed kind of heavy compared to the previous posts.
I am an atheist, and yet I believe that we should try to survive and expand across the universe for as long as possible. Maybe one day technology will advance to the point where we can transcend the physical and make Scenario B a reality.

What is my meaning of life? Making other peoples lives more enjoyable, I suppose. The rest of the time I just use the work of others to enjoy myself. Pretty decent circular existence.

My time here on earth is a blink of an eye compared to my time in eternity. I am here on this Earth to be refined by God, to grow spiritually and to share Jesus' name with as many people as possible. And to have fun! Just not Drugs/Pimpin'/Booze/Killin'/Stealin'/Lyin' "fun". I have plenty of fun, more than most people will, because I know that everyone and everything finds it's purpose in God. And I have found my purpose through him.
"Religion" does in-fact give people hope and inspire them to continue on but that is false hope.
A "Relationship" is what I have with my creator, the one true God. A Relationship brings life, a "Religion" brings false hope and death.

I spend my life as I see fit. I try to do some good in the world with the hope that I won't have to go through life again.
In other words, life sucks, but make the best of it for everyone and hopefully you will find peace in non-existance when you actually find out the meaning of existance or somehting....
