thnx ahead of time
1. i just got my new Dell inspiron 8600. It came with an optical mouse. When i play in game the mouse randomly looks up and spins around really fast like a ballerina then stops. I didn't have this problem with my old optical mouse. Is this because its an optical mouse? Any fix aside from triyng my old mouse?

2. When i use mic in commander mode it sometimes freezes for a sec and lags the sound coming out...that is when im using mic and moving around at same time. Its fine in non-commander mode. (edit: i use CAPSLOCK and ALT which was suggested in the sticky topic)

3. I tried to dnld the refreshlock / refreshforce program for Windows XP refresh rates but the link in the webbed post doesnt' let me...it keeps taking me back to the home page and it keeps trying to get me to click on useless popups...

4. Any general mic tweaks/fix if ppl can't hear you well other than maxing transmit volume in options -> voice.

5. Triple buffering...should i enable? not sure what it does. ive heard enabling it be suggested before

6. and you should have vsync on if you get 100 fps in game right?

stats:
inspiron 8600
pentium M dothan
128 mb ATI radeion 9600 proturbo
512 mb ddr ram

    1) Update/change drivers
    2) Did you change your mouse surface? (remember, shiney things can be very bad, same with uneven.
    3) Wireless? NO?

    no real idea.

Don't know the progie, try googling it, or something.

    1) Learn to use a Mic:
    a) DO NOT EAT THE MIC! (dead serious here). You want the mic to be a few wingers away from your mouth, any closer and it just craps out.
    b) iRemember to give your self about 1/2 a sec of holding the button before you start speaking (same with releasing it)
    2) If you are lagging then it will crap out, nothing to be done there.
    3) Ask people how you sound in a server, they will often tell you what to fix.

    no clue

ummm, you should have VSynch on if it works for you, if you get slow downs, try turning it off, if you tear, try turning it on.

Here is a good link for fps. Do everything it says and you will be rocking.

No idea about the mic issues, I just plug mine in and talk. Oh make sure you have the enable mic or whatever it is called in the game options audio section.

The mouse twirl thingy, yea I have had that happen, wired optical dell. One thing which helped me was to turn antialaising and anisotropic settings off in vid card. I use nvidia drivers so not sure how to do that in ati driver, search around and you will find them.

Mouse problems? With the intellimouse explorer? Uninstall the extra drivers, XP has built in support.. and the extra drivers break things
