<div class="IPBDescription">Returning to NS, in need of Tech-Tree</div> Hello everyone.
I have recently returned to Natural-Selection, my gameplay as my favoured team (Marines) has increased dramatically with both competance to follow the commanders orders STRAIGHT away, only getting 50|150 ammo for my LMG rather than a full clip (None for the pistol as I don't use it) and my aim/skill with slaying the ever deadly; <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I have recently joined a new clan and they are in need of another commander, hsould the first not make it, I have said I am willing too be the 2nd Commander but will need to train.
Now as we all know, a Commander plays about 25% role in the match, the other 25% is the Marines and the 50% is the Aliens who are both killing structures and marines. (This is a true statistic as both teams are even, and both add up to 50%)
It's very hard to command on a public server where many members of the team decide they will go off and rambo, or the people who kind of help you, but don't listen too you. And then of course the excellent marines that we all wish we had that move out all the time capturing res nodes and sneaking PG's around and locking down hives (Definately me)
But anyway, back on track; If anyone knows where there is a detailed 3.0 beta 4a Tech-Tree that you can click icons to find details about etc that would be really handy for me because I could plan my game before the PCW's;
Know how many of us there will be (Able to assign squads before hand)
Know what map will be played (Able to plan a path, and upgrades)
Able too plot my structual and upgrade plan.
Able too plan a backup attack for any situation.
I'd be able too do this with a HTML or something clickable tech-tree.
If anyone can provide me with a link too one, or perhaps make one to help ALL commanders around the glode that would be really handy!
Thankyou (Game details furthur down, not RTR)
-------------
I was just on my first game as a comm before (No one else would and ever map i've been going 'Shall I comm? Nah...' so I did here) since I have returned to NS in the last 3 days, the map was ns_bast (We all know why it's called 'bast')
and we were doing really well, I had a decent team, they didn't dilly-dally around typing or talking, they KNEW what we had too do, I didn't need too tell them to move out, anyway, we'd locked down Engine Room and the hive with water ( I used too know the names of EVERYWHERE on every map before I left NS) and it was going so well, upgrades on the way, phase gates going up all over the show and the Aliens couldn't stop us - And I'm talking... 7 minutes into the game here.
Then it went pear shaped; A rambo idiot joined and had a score of 2/9 in no time, he was spamming for a GL + JP when we didn't have a proto yet (still 7 mins in) and so because I didn't give him one, and he refused too move until I got one, he booted me out of the console (I think someone else did aswell, because I accidentally neglected their ammo pleas while locking down a hive). Anyway, safe too say he hopped in the chair, got a proto lab, got JP's, dumped a set down for himself, hopped out and rambo'd away.
I just quit after that, thats why I can't stand public games. In PCW's people understand that you need your res for the hive you are locking down or too acctually PLAN your steps, and they don't rambo either, they follow orders because it may just be me, but without a tag, they are drones, with a tag, they are valuable members of any team, public or private.
This is a true statistic on my behalf that I have seen, anyone without a tag just drifts along, but the same person may have a tag the next day and play like an Average+ and be a credit too your team.

Maybe you should start playing some gathers or some pugs (Depending on where you're from) They're just like clan games but without the clan. Skill level in them varies but the people who join in are genrally the people that have the same problems as you, and are wanting to play in a team.
I forget the PUG channel name, but if you're from euro, come down to #ns.gather on quakenet, and type !add to get into a game, they're much better then public play. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->
#nspug on gamesurge is for the Americans.. I'm one of the few euros who play there and theres mostly a decent game going.
hahahahahahaha.
Anyways:

Try using the search function next time, kthx.
As for the LMG ammo, If you are laughing at the fact that I DONT get a full clip then i'm glad. it just doesn't make me an armoury humper.
and always if theres any kind of rush going on, dont take ammo. dont even look at the armory (unless u happen to get a shotty, then you'll be allowed to hump for a few clips).
there are plenty of commander guides on this forum alone; no real need to go al fancy with interfaces. If that does not interest you,

Finally, at 7 mins, you should have had an armslab, if not armour1 too. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
No. I was wondering why in the world would a marine worth his nanites not use his pistol.
Because I am not good with something that isn't automatic against a tiny, fast target.
Obviously if I run out of LMG ammo I use it, get a few good shots, but the pistol is really not my strong point, I think i'll practice it though.
Thanks for the good reply BlueNovember <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> Will look at those links now.
And pistol > lmg. Seriously, consider using it as your primary weapon. You typically see skulks at long range anyway.
See skulk
Pistol a few shots (3 shots, out of a 10 shot magazine, leaves the skulk critical)
Finish off with lmg
If it's still not dead (shame!), knife!
3 Knife swipes, 4? pistol shots, or 8 lmg shots kill a skulk.
(Not too sure on pistol there. 20 damage a shot, and it depends on hives too, but about 4 shots.)

Sense 9+! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And how is that not filtered... :S
Hehe, as the quote goes:
"8 kills in a row; in Quake 3, it's Godlike, in Ut, it's Ultra Kill, in NS, it's kicked by console"
(I botched that, but the comedy still works. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
--
The pistol does damage independant of lmg doesn't it? As weapon upgrades effect it differnently. Correct if wrong.
--
5*20 = 100, yet skulk hp is 70 10. 10 armour = 10 hp at hive 1, so 80 damage needed...
Shouldn't 4 shots then kill?
--
EDIT: Yeah, I just play the game. The maths doesn't really interest me either. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
whatever that damage sim says is generally accepted in the community.

I am pretty sure that armor is 2 hp at hive 1, 2.5 at hive 2 and 3 at hive 3. Either way, I'm positive that 4 shots dont kill a hive 1 skulk.
