Ok... Write your internet connection type and specs. (like 128Kb Cable) Then we can fine tune your rate and connection settings acording to that...

Yes... First of all check your connection setting from the Internet tab of Settings window of Steam... You must set it to 56K...

Open the config.cfg file with notepad; It is located in the nsp folder under your steam install directory(default location is c:\program files\Steam\steamapps\your email\half-life\nsp)...

add the lines below at the end of your config and save it...

ex_interp "0"
alias ex_interp
cl_updaterate "20"
cl_cmdrate "30"
rate "6000"

Then start NS3.0 and connect to a server for testing...

If you are still having problems, Open console by pressing tilde key (the key under ESC) and just type ex_intrep, rate, cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate, commands seperately there and check the values of each one. Console autocompletes the commands and shows the current set value in a small windows below command line... This is for checking if steam overrides any of these settings or not... If the values are different from you added to your config; take a note and post them...

HTH...

good tips, i use 56k and just thought i'd add i think that rate is a bit high (unless maybe u have an elite 56k modem or something)

as far as i know recommended rate is about 4500 but i use 3800 and that works well for me, different for everyone tho.
