What Do You Tell Marines Who Can't Fight?

is your gun broken soldier?
This is more of a gripe than strategy I guess, but the last few times I've played commander, I've been plagued with marines who can't, won't, or don't know how to fight.
Granted, the game has a lot of atmosphere, it's damn spooky out there with those aliens running around. But what are you supposed to do with marines who go out in a group of four and all get killed by one skulk, with maybe one of them getting a shot off? Given, there are some great skulks out there, but you'd think sooner or later these trigger happy joes would get themselves into the habit of looking around them and practicing aiming their guns at incoming targets.
What's worse is, after getting hosed by skulks a few times, they'll all start hanging around the base demanding HMG and HA ... when the aliens have shown nothing more than skulks and gorges.
I mean, if you can't hit a skulk with a LMG, what makes you think you'll hit him with a HMG?
Sorry, I'm a griper, but it does sort of blow my mind sometimes. I watch them crawl around the map and it's clear that they've spent time playing CS. That game does involve some carefully directed weapons fire it was my impression.
So, what do you say to marines that don't know how to fight?

If you say "I'ld give you guns, but you're just going to die.", they come back with "Well of course we'll die if you don't give us guns." Sigh.
I think at this point you really have to consider that despite your best efforts, this round is a lost cause. If they can't shoot things, all the guns in the world aren't going to help. You could try going for Arms Lab armor upgrades, just to give the marines a few extra seconds to pull that trigger, but I doubt that'll win the match for you.
:>
If there aren't enough skulks rushing, or if the hive was too far away, then parasite becomes the most important weapon. Parasite them all, then you can withdraw and watch what they are doing at your leisure.
Shadow loners or small groups, killing them when they either try to build something, get too close to a hive (don't want them to know where they can go) or get to close to a Gorge.
Oh, and chuckle. A lot! :-)
As for marines that can't hit skulks..let them play poorly. Eventually they'll figure it out. The LMG has less spread for it's range and is definately good for those long hallways. I think the upped prices were a tad much as I'm playing marines more often (finally), but a well managed team will make it. People just have to adjust to playing without turreted base every three feet.
"go out and pick one up off your own dead body"
make them pry it out of their own cold dead hands

THANK YOU! Someone who realizes you can go back and pick up your own gun! -.-
I wait a few seconds before I take and and actually use it.

Yeah, I tell him to get in a group or move in groups but they still won't listen and still bugs me for betters weapons and stuff.
However, in the interim, and if he's willing to admit he's a bit butterfingered on the trigger, chuck a welder at him, and get him to stay behind the "assault group", fixing armour and building stuff.
Of course, if you've (A) got a bunch of Imperial Stormtroopers or (B) got someone who insist's he's Audie Murphy when he's more like Pee Wee Herman, then there's not a lot you can do but try to have a sense of humour about it. If you're playing pick-up, and end up with a bunch of guys who couldn't shoot an Onos at five paces, then your only hope is that they're happy to play as a team. The law of averages suggests that ONE of them will be aiming bugwards when he hoses off his clip in the firearm equivalent of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Frankly, in terms of winning the game, then, ahhh, accuracy impaired players who're happy to follow orders and work at a team are better than six grunts who can neuter a Lerk from halfway across the map and insist of Ramboing. My granny could level an HMG at a Wall of Lame and hose off boxmag after boxmag, and she's dead.
'Course, if they don't do either... At least body bags are ten for 1 resource...
I'm this close to giving up on the commander position entirely and just trying to find a good commander to serve under. I can't deal with stuff like that; I'd rather everything myself if I have to.
I used the same shotgun for an entire game, and I died 5 times *laughs*
This is what you tell EVERY moron who asks for a gun and cant hit anything:
"Go kill a skulk, bring me the head, and you can have a shiny HMG."
Though I did get one guy today, I could have sworn he was a god of somesort. He didn't ask for anything but a jetpack, he built everything I put near him, went to the way points, guarded areas I told him to, I gave him a hmg he then went and killed a hive. I think I'm in love.

OMFG! I laughed so hard I almost got into trouble at work. I have heard similar things, but luckily never while commanding.
