Put an env_explosion near your hive, give it a name, next place a trigger_hurt with the same name that does 99999 damage and that covers the hive completely. When you trigger them, the explosion should show and the hive should die.

NS is a bit buggy about structures getting killed by enetities.
I use lasers to kill the hive and other structures since this ALWAYS seems to work unlike trigger hurt, and env explosion.
On the other hand explosions are a great way to destroy function breakables =)
Trust me on this one as it is a key component in my map co_PodRush.
OT: function weldables are buggy in co maps; you can walk through them and get stuck inside them easily.
