<div class="IPBDescription">got some problems...</div> Hi ^^
I've overrided my "ns" folder in "C:/SIERRA/Half-Life/"
by the one used in STEAM, called "Nsp" in "C:\Valve\Steam\[...]\half-life\nsp"
... and now it doesn't work when i try to create a LAN game. it show only a microsoft error box.
I've done this because i wanted to play the NS 3.04a on LAN with friends without to install STEAM (a lot of them hate it...).
We've played NS2.0 succesfully last week, but i would like to know if i can play NS3.04a on LAN without STEAM...
Thanks for any help ^^

But STEAM isnt THAT bad. I mean wouldn't you do anything to play the newer versions of ns <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I use Steam to play on internet... but as most of my friends doesn't have it because they dislike it.. I WILL FORCE THEM ^^
Thanks for the advice ^^
EDIT :
Another problem... if i have to make my friends to install STEAM, Half Life for STEAM updated and Natural Selection... Do they have to register on internet with an EMAIL, CD Key and everything through internet ? Or can i install everything in local and still play the game ?
You must have a Steam account to play on STEAM (which is needed to play ns above v. 2.01)
You have to give your e-mail adress to get a STEAM account.
And you do have to register your c.d. key to get half-life working on STEAM.
(you need to give any cd key that is a half-life type product. ex: halflife, opposing force, blue shift etc.)
I think that was what you were asking...
Not all of my friends got Half Life (or just a valid CD key)
So i think we will just... stick with version 2.0

I know Steam is not bad... I started using it last december; and never ever had any problem except the slowdowns and login problems due to attacks or updates...
However if one wants to play it in WON; he can...
The thing is from what I heard The official version of NS3.0 wont be competible with WONHL... But It is for the betas...
You will need STEAM if you are planning to install NS3.0beta... once installed you can copy nsp directory to your WON HL directory and get rid of STEAM...
So If you get nsp directory from a friend you dont even have to install STEAM... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It still runs, but there is a good chance of gfx problems, simply because of the changes between WONHL And SteamHL (these were some of the first changes in 2.1, so that it would run correctly on Steam)
And yes, all you have to do is get one working copy of NSP, burn it to a CD and then have people move it into their HL dir, and all is good for some LAN Lovin.
