Send: TSA High Command
Receive: All Squad Commanders in vicinity of Outpost 27 - 9
Subject: Search and Rescue / Termination of xenoform presence

Greetings Commanders,

At 0430 yesterday the following transmittion was sent from our research and development base on Poses 7
(Outpost 27 - 9). Shortly after this transmittion was terminated, all communications with the base ceased,
and we have been unable to re-establish communications. Message follows:

"This is Alex Vermont of TSA outpost 27-9, to anyone still in *static* losing vital systems all over the
outpost. Many of my men have also *indecipherable*. We need urgent assistance. I'm shutting down all
non-essential systems to try and *static* infection *static* locking down research *static*"

We have to assume that this transmission was sent in response to hostile action. From what information
we can recover from the message, and the proximity of Outpost 27 - 9 to the Infected Zones, the probability
is high that the Kharaa xenoforms are responsible.

Outpost 27 - 9 is a classified operation, however because of the situation the security level of squad
commanders in the vicinity of the Poses 7 system has been temporarily raised. The following is what
information we can tell you about our operations at Outpost 27 - 9:

- Advanced research in the fields of communications, scanning, tracking and observation
- Advanced phase technology research
- All remaining information is classified lvl 7 or higher.

It is of vital importance that communications with Outpost 27 - 9 be re-established and any threat to
station security eradicated. Expect no assistance from Alex Vermont's forces; given the situation, we
have to assume the worse case scenario, which is that he and his Frontiersmen have been wiped out.

If possible, try to limit the usage of heavy weaponry around research areas. These sections will be
highlighted in red on the tactical map of Outpost 27 - 9 that is attached to this message. However, if
the situation warrants the usage of said weapons, you have permission to use them.

Entry to the complex will be in map sector 9a, marked on your tactical map in blue. This area is just
adjacent to loading bay 3b, which recent maintenance reports indicate is functional. If you are successful
in eradicating all threats to station security, a TSA maintenance team will be dispatched immediately.

Field reports should be delivered on the Gold channel frequency 9067.

    its just to help others out, as i had a full path for one of the files but not the other

    Looks good! But one thing that looks really moronic(not to flame here).. The last screenshot, the door to the right, it goes up there but it would come up from the floor on that upper level if things are built that way, looks not too good.. But it's no problem.

    The map is too dark, It can't be played without flashlight. Coridors near broken elevator (level 2/3) really need some details, they are too boring.

    i was tryin to go for the empty feel and use the lighting instead.

    I'll go over it trying to brighten things up a bit aswell

    It does work ok on mine, but i use full gamma

    I'm also gonna rip out alot of the areas as i think its too big atm

    I use full gamma and brightnes too, I've set gamma to 2.0 and the map was still to dark, with sun shining throught window in my room I can see something only with flashlight.

    Try add to hl rad this parameter "gamma 1" and in lights.rad add one digit (multipy by 10) to each texlights brightnes. It will create short intensive lights and preserve dark spots. Light entities won't be affected by "gamma 1" too much.

    i dont actually have any texture lights in it, as i started this map before i learnt to use them, the new version will have them tho

    I've already vastly altered the map, making it smaller and more playable

    I typically use pretty bright values in my RAD file (around 3000). I used an env_gamma value of 1.5 with ns_adrianne and compiled it with the following settings: -gamma 0.9 -bounce 2. (As far as I can remember.)

    When I started using tex lights instead of light entities, I found it useful to add a slightly bigger values to the *.rad file than what they were in the light entities. In fact, I usually just multiplied with 10 and afterwards altered them a little if needed.

    I must admit I'm fairly surprised to hear you've used only light entities this far. It looks so damn good. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Just make sure the routes marines walk are well lit so they don't really <b>have to</b> use flashlight too often..
