    I have noticed that in some situations defencive chambers can outheal siege turrets. I think it has to do with range away from the siege turret.

    I suppose this goes down to your turret positioning. I've successfully "Blinked" past ALOT of Turrets and managed to "land" behind the COMM console and hack it to bits. Safely out of the way of any turrets. And if i did get hit I could "Blink" escape or I had "Redemption" as my saviour

    Well, the whole point is that the seige can't kill the alien buildings (they're healing too fast). So the seige basically nullifies the whole place (and subsequently the route) by causing endless splash damage.

    For those of us who have listened to the "free tech" of Magic: The Gathering, most abusable bugs or weapons, etc, are NOT found by the playtesters. It isn't their job. Their job is to find the bugs that break the game. Worry about balance AFTER you build the seesaw.

    They've done a damn good job as yet, and I have a feeling things will improve in time.

    Personally I wasn't there for the match.

    But as I heard my clan (Theory of Evolution) lost as playing Marines versus the Dev team.

    However when the tables were turned and we were aliens my clan won again the Testers.

    And I'm not talking any Smack. And if you would like to quote some smack feel free to. Because it doesn't exsist.

    I still think seige turrets are a huge problem but maybe that's cause I haven't played on the match. All I know is that every game I play as aliens there are turret farms all over and they just add a seige and blammo! It's all over.

    I think seige is bugged though, someone told me it only cost 15 RPs? I'm assuming that was a mistake or something? I dunno I heard it a few times though and I never checked it out for myself. I do know that Jetpacks only cost 9 RP now. But that's for another thread.

    So once and for all, I have no "ill will" towards anyone and I don't talk "Smack". I state my opinion as I belive it to be true and I give people a chance to prove me wrong.

    The dev team whooped us as Aliens so that proves that the Aliens can beat the Marines despite my belief. And I'm not gonna say they only one because I wasn't there. But I would like to be there in person for a match as well.

    FFS face it, wtf's the crap bout if the aliens even allow the marine the build a siege near their hive the alien's incompetent? wtf's that? face it, THEY ACTUALLY HAVE ALOT OF SENTRY TURRETS AROUND THE FACTORY AND THE SIEGE!!!! so if u guys expect a fade the destroy everything there...IT IS CLEARLY impossible in some situation,seriously siege turrets needs to tune down a bit as in damage and range

    God... i see all you people whining about this but not a single one of the people who "owned the alien team with siege turrets" has suggested a counter strategy against the siege.

    Siege turrets are not unbalanced, me being a good player with both races, and being a commander for the most part should know this.

    Cost of siege turret = 25 (factory) + (upgrade) 25 + time to upgrade + 25 (siege turret) + time to build all those buildings.

    This is a total of 75 rps... for just a single place of siege turrets. Add another 25 per siege turrets, and oh, dont forget your "impassable forest of marine turrets" to add in to the total cost. Now, if a marine team speds that many resources in order to place some siege turrets, i expect them to be very effective. How would you like being an Onos (70 rps) and getting only 100 hp and 50 armor?

    An effective strategy against siege turrets is to not even let them get built. If a marine is smart enough to place a siege in main base to guard a nearby node, only a stupid alien would keep trying to build there. At the same time, if a marine tries to build at the start of the game right b y the alien hive, expect a LOT of trouble...

    The solution? Dont whine about it, balance comes from the eye of the beholder, if you find that someone is beating you a lot with a strategy, you should predict what they do and come up with a plan to stop it. After all, marines dont start out with siege turrets...

    Hell, marines aren't so tough, a few aliens who know what they're doing can stop the entire marine team in their tracks.

    Not to brag...well okay I'm bragging, no matter what the circumstances I always get topscore as an alien (unless I join the game late, and often I still get topscore in that case). As a skulk, I can seriously hamper marine expansion, and easily take out a base free of marines (if the turret factory has an exposed spot that is). Once I get fade, it's usually all over for the marines, unless their entire team is already suited in HA with an HMG. Man, that fade sure is sweet, I remember one time when I evolved into a fade I had like 10 kills and 8 deaths, by the end of the game I had 52 kills and still 8 deaths <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    Anways, aliens can really kickass, It's just hard to get back in the game if you let the marines expand early. The majority of games are decided in the first 10 minutes. It is very possible to dig yourself out of a hole, but that requires exceptional skill and teamwork, and incompetance on the other side.

    Also, do note that while the turret factory is upgrading to advanced turret factory, it doesn't power any turrets.

    I took out a turret factory and 6 turrets because the commander did the upgrade with no marines there.

    Of course, the game was already lost .. but it was pretty funny.

    I hate getting killed by siege turrets, but I don't mind them killing buildings so much because of what it takes to set sieges up. The main problem in this situation is map design. As the crow flies, the marine base is too close to that Main Aft choke point on Bast. If they set a siege up in their own base, which is not too difficult, the Main Aft and the Engine room are off limits to aliens.

    First off the match the PTs had against us was crap. First off the match was sudden. Flayra walked into the channel and said game now. We didn't even have all our players nor our best players. For christs sake i wasn't even in the game. I am **obscenity** flayra did it that way and doubly **obscenity** my team accepted the sudden challenge. I hearby challenge the team again for a game on a preplaned time so that our team isnt handicaped my ringers that are there to fill out our teams ranks.

    Flayra, as soon as I can make sure my entire clan will be around, you already know from talking after taht first, _very quote unquote_, "scrim", (/me makes bunny ears) you would be more then willing to do it again except when I actually had the people I wanted to have.

    To anyone else... grab me another bat, I ain't done yet, and mine just broke

    And yes, 3 games were played, 3 or 4, and the alien team won everytime.

    Edit : I happened to PM Flayra about "hey rumor has it you or someone would love to play against us, etc etc etc" and flayra was just like "ok, now" and after he more or less said "ok, now" failed to compromise that I didn't have anyone in my clan around, except for myself. I had to drag brand new people that had just gottten into the clan, barely step up's from newbies, grab another clan mate who had been up for 36 hours and the only reason he played was becuase it was against Dev Team and PT's, and Mega Man X. Other then that, it was a 9 on 9 with a bunch of Commanders for either team that did not know what they were doing, and no one on the Marine team used any team work. Theiigsta was there to talk after the match, since he spectated. He can vouch for all this. The Marines were uncoordinated. As far as Seige's go, they are not too overpowered, you wanna take em out? Get a single lerk with Adrenaline to back up his teammates with Umbra. That's all you need, go for the heart, the turret factory, with adren. pumping umbra, and it's down in 30 seconds, sometimes less.

    If only it were that easy. If one siege turret isn't enough, build another right next to it. Well done, now any amount of alien defence chambers are now useless against you. Even one siege turret against a structure which is being outhealed

    Anyway, your missing the point. The siege turret is the ultimate stalemate breaker. If aliens and marines are giving their best and holding the lines, the marines have only to put down siege cannons and their victory is only a matter of time. Not only are structures under siege turret siege doomed, but any attempts to heal it with a gorge are fatal. Nothing the aliens have even comes close to the kind of advantage siege turrets give the marines.

    they stalemate when the aliens are like, got the marines with their "nuts in a vise" waiting to clamp it down and somehow those bloody marines are holding em off. Now this normalyl only happens when people forget all 4 abilities of each level. Do not underestimate the power of umbra and adrenaline, Us3r will vouch for this, we lost because we didn't have Adrenaline

    it really is that simple

    other then that, try flipping on tourny mode and watching the marines have to PAY to spawn a marine, and take FF ON when they grenade spam

    Lack of adreneline can screw you over pretty well, agreed.

    However, I have been in some stalemates. Usually a situation where the aliens had the marines fairly well contained but were prevented from advancing upon their main base by a truely nasty sentry line and grenade barrages which knocked out any attempts to umbra. Note this happens with the aliens on the offencive - it's not possible to stalemate when the marines are on the offencive due to the effectiveness of even basic marine weapons versus alien structures.

    In the situation where the aliens have the marines stalemated, the Marines start putting siege turrets within their defencive permiter, and this blows away alien structures at quite a distance away (often taking out aliens within the blast), which distracts the aliens enough that the marines can start locking down more ground with sentry turrets.

    Admittedly it took quite a bit of organizational skill on behalf of the marines and a capable commander to pull it off, which is good. What's not so good is that the aliens were at least as capable, but it ended up not making a difference in the end due to the sheer advantage of siege turrets when used like this.
