driver components dont match
So i updated to the newest drivers on the nvidia page today (unsure of version number)
I have a GF6800 Ultra that previously worked great with NS at full AA/AF max quality settings... really made the game look pretty.....
Updated drivers...
Now at NS splash screen i get a windows error
In the title bar of the error msg it says (Nvidia OpenGL error)
Driver components dont match, exit is the only option.
ANd u have to push ok.. thats it

The 6800 GT > X800 Pro. The 16 pipelines make all the difference. And nVidia still maintains its traditional superiority in Open GL.
The XT and 6800 Ultra are tossups, however.
Personally, I'd say only doing a half to a third the work that the ATi card does makes more of a difference, at least in Doom3.
I'd much rather have a video card where I can turn down the settings to get more speed, rather than having them forced down in the drivers, making for horrendous artifacting. Just have to get those screenies from a local friend's machine over here... has both a 5950 Ultra and a 6800 UE. Both of them exhibit horrific artifacting and obvious corner-cuts under the newest Detonators, if you know what artifacting actually looks like.
X800 Pro > 6800 GT in HL2 or any Direct X game
Optimal end result: someone points out a fix to his problem, or walks him through a downgrade of his current drivers back to the more stable version.
Acctual end result: thread decays into Nvidea VS. ATI fanboy war.
Conclusion: WTH!?!
FOr all u fanboys... i dont give a ****.. im an NVIDIA person.. no used debating it.. so im not gonna....
Can someone help me... im goin thru NS withdrawal..
Messed around with all settings in properties... not helping

Is the error exclusive to NS? If it is not, try visiting the forums on steampowered.com to see if others have been experiencing this. If it is, I have no idea . Since HL is actually quite an old game, it might not work too fantastic on the newest of graphics cards.
Although I have the same videocard and have had about every driver out there I haven't come across this issue. Might try and look at other possible causes, or downgrade the drivers (small price to pay IMO).
(Not that you *need* a top-end card for HL/NS anyway)

I know they always say to reboot, but on some occasions you really need to.
And Im running an old **** geforce2 gts, and Im still getting 60-70fps.
Ive noticed with xp, my fps wont go faster than my monitors refresh even with vsync off.
BUT if I put vsync on, it flickers between constant 60 and constant 30fps. I dont know why the drop. so vsync off and it runs fine again. *shrug*
Cuz its synced with ur monitor...
~Jason
I turn it on, I get 30fps, and i can feel the choppiness.
Turn it off, and I get 70, which is my monitor refresh.
I dunno what component was smoking the crack cuz vsync shouldnt have mad a diff.
