Hmm, I know you could do it in an ini file for the original H-L, and I think you could change the sprites as well. I'm not sure how it goes under Steam though, cause they messed around a bit with the files there.

<a href='http://www.slackiller.com/hlprograms.htm' target='_blank'>Here</a> there are a few sprite editing programs that will allow you to change the blood sprite's colour.

I was thinking about this earlier. In germany the HL human models were replaced with robots?

With valve being able to sell HL2 via steam will there be anything stopping them being able to sell a version of HL2 with red bloody(OMG!) in germany?

Either that or they make new models for every NPC for just 1 country....

yeah thats what i heard of, the marines were replaced by green robots if i remeber correctly.

I had to explain that everywhere else they were actually marines, not robots, too some guy on a server once.

He was amazed.

I just got to ask... Assuming that human models are replaced by robots, the actual violence is still there, right? It's just directed at something non-human (though still humanoid and with exactly the same sentience as a human version would have). Just what kind of imbecils are playing the game to justify such a change? What effect could it possibly have? If someone is stupid enough to think that just because I can shoot marines in a game, I can do it in RL too, are they smart enough to think that it's okay to do it in the game because those things are *robots* not humans?

Yes, something about because of what hitler did they dont want to promote violence against fellow man.
But popping rounds in aliens and robots, cyborgs etc is all gravy.

Also what I hate is servers that dont allow cursing or "no cussin" because there are kids playing.
Why is it wrong for me to say a mere word, when its perfectly fine for them to hit people with quad rockets and see gibs fly all over the place. Tsk tsk.
