Im german too, but i dont see the point of translating the mod into german, translating the manual would be more helpful for some people.

Well , given the fact that you are only allowed to even own a copy of HL in Germany if you are 18 years or older I don't see the need for a localised version. And even if you are only 15 it's not that hard. Take a good dictionary and you have worked it out in no time. Besides, Mars, you manged to post on an english language forum so please don't tell me you can't understand a word that is said in the game.

You're wrong, you can buy a special "german version" of HL without blood, gibs and german language and u can also buy the english CS Retail Version (with blood etc.) if you are under 18, but you can't buy the orginal english version of HL if you are under 18, because its forbidden to sell it (hard to explain in english).

MrFair,

das weiss ich doch alles

Aber ich gehoere zu den Leuten die sich schon aus Prinzip keine deutschen Versionen kaufen. Bin ja auch schon volljaehrig, hehe.

I've a better idea. Why don't you guys learn english so you can communicate with other people instead.

Learn English?

Read their posts again, what language you think is that...

I think the translation of the manual into other languages wouldn't be a bad idea.

Anyways the problem, how I see it, is that at the moment the German youth does absolutely everything to avoid learning anything by themselves. This is a development that seriously scares me. All the things that you would do to broaden your horizons are immedieatley stomped upon by the " we need localised versions so that we have to think as little as possible" faction.

What I am trying to say here is that a couple of years ago people would buy the original language version of a game and then try to work it out because the game was worth it. Nowadays they even call for a localised version of a mod. This is insane.

Another thing that is absolutely mind boggeling is the fact that we dub everything for the German market. Again, this is something that young people would do because they want to. They want to see the english language television series, movies, comedy routines... etc. It would be much more interesting to have subtiteling on those things. But unfortunatly we now have an entire dubbing industrie that will be most strongly opposed to that. BTW, the latest insult to the consumers intelligence are localised DVDs. "Well , of course they are localised" I can hear you say but thats not what i meant. They now produce DVDs that do not even include an original language version anymore! One of the main selling points of DVDs was that they can carry that much data but now we get DVDs that do carry the movie in the dubbed version and no extras !
So what does that mean? Well, with the World markets consolidating the way they do the english language will become more and more important but we have a generation of children growing up that refuse to learn english unless you put a gun to their heads ( also know as marks ). This can 't be good.
