Many guys of you are wondering why there are so many noobs on the server. Maybe this is the answer:
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
UT2004 ( + Mods ): 896 gamer online
Natural Selection : 1030 gamer online
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Source : <a href='http://www.csports.net' target='_blank'>http://www.csports.net</a>

    I highly doubt that number. While it'd be great, this looks more like the kind of stats UT2k3 had a few months ago, and 2k4's modding scene is still in full swing.

    Take a look at the stats generated by gamespy instead. They should be more correct although never scientificlly proven. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I also think that Csports.net is currently now working correct.

    P.S: The modscene of UT2004 is ver< active, but the mods only have a small number of players :/

    Yep, wait until the final phase of the MSU contest is over, that number will jump way higher than 800s.

    Norml, it IS over. Red Orchestra won, sadly(there is better- Air Pirates ftw!). Great mod, but not the best.

    And these numbers are WAAAAAAAY off. Gamespy's numbers aren't even correct. Last I checked, according to the UT2k4 master server (which does exclude 1 out of every 50 servers, sadly), the lowest point they've had since release was 1500 players at one time. Their average for peak hours is easily above 15,000, and thats only for America. When you go worldwide, the numbers are even more dramatic.

    Currently, there isn't any server/player trackers that count every single server- there isn't even one yet that doesn't exclude at least 10 or 20 variables <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I played UT2004 online a couple days ago and I was shocked at how bad it was. Lag is awful in that there's no compensation whatsoever. I was pinging 30-40 to a server and yet had to lead shots with weapons like shock rifle and lightning gun. How the multiplayer of a multiplayer-only game can be so counterintuitive is bewildering to me. I mean, I thought that the HL netcode was bad.

    Errr... I may be a total n00b at UT2004, but I have played it at least once online. And I think there is lag compensation. But no weapons there are hitscan, so you have to either get very close or aim ahead of your opponent to hit. Plus, UT players can dodge faster than skulks. Impossible for HL players like us, I must say.

    The only hitscan weapons are very slow sniper rifles that don't kill in one hit unless you do a headshot and a laser rifle that has no crosshair.

    For those who are wondering, the game is basically Solo or Team DM, maybe with the addition of an objective or 2. (CTF, Hold 2 Command Points for 10 seconds, Attack vs Defense, Instagib, etc.)

    Its pretty deathmatch. <a href='http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2004-02-16&res=l' target='_blank'>Good with bots,</a> <a href='http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2004-03-19&res=l' target='_blank'>less than good with other humans.</a>

    i hate DM, it seems utterly pointless to run around in circles in an insane free-for-all where everyone has rocket launchers at there disposal.

    UT 2003, UT 2004? am i the only one getting the feeling that UT is goint to be like old sports game, where they make the same hocky game once every year to keep up to date?

    If anyone has a good place to go for accurate server/player numbers, I'd love to know it. I normally look at Gamespy, but it's hard to know who to trust.

    If you play UT2004, or most other games I've tried, the server counts seem to be semi-close to what are listed in Gamespy at least.

    I dunno if you mean all games flayra or ns and toher games but...
    I find the steam site to give the mroe accurate results

    <a href='http://www.steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html' target='_blank'>http://www.steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html</a>

    Currently 1,571 players with 359 servers (thats a pretty slow amount of servers really). Thats 48.900 million Player Minutes / Month
