its fun! :D
Hey guys, here's a little something I picked up from High school!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Materials Needed
A Plastic cup.
plastic spoon.
elmer's glue, or any type of good sticky glue. no glue sticks.
Borax.
food coloring liquid. <powder is also good>
a cup of cold water.
goggles
pair of gloves
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok first pour a whole lot of glue into the cup of cold water, stir with the plastic spoon for about 2-3 minutes. add borax after stiring. Next apply food coloring to the color of your choice. now mix again for another 2-3 minutes. now let the goo sit for about a minute or so.

and now play with your icky icky goo!! heheh, this is fun!

we need the gloves because if borax gets onto our hands, and we eat something, we get sick. VERY sick.

glue for making the goo sticky.

borax for the no dryness of the goo.

DO NOT EAT THE GOO, LICK IT, TASTE IT. It is meant for external use, not internal cleaning of any sort! that means you sam, dont try to clean your eyes heh

let me know what you guys think of your goo!!!

P.S. If you have any questions PM me. and if you want to learn how to make it GLOW pm me also.

The whole thing with the borax puts me off ever trying this... not to mention I'm totally lost as to why it's ok to touch the borax after it's mixed with glue and colour =P

All I've learned in the past week in High School is how to make a miniature ion engine (its actually powered by electrons, but that doesn't sound as cool) with two paperclips and a Van der Graff generator (carpet, socks and a metal sphere would probably work too).

Oh, and I also learned from a friend's Chem 10 class (our Chem teacher never did this ) that you shouldn't combine a propane blowtorch and that bubble solution (and then ignite the bubbles), or at least not indoors. Oh, and she also said he taught them how to make contact explosive (on the condition that the class NOT make a batch and paint lockers with it). He did that one for us too, and tested it by painting the inside of the door on the teacher's lounge with it and letting it dry overnight. Next day, somebody rattled the knob and the door blew clean off (the explosive solution wasn't as dilute as he thought). Of course he didn't give us the formula, but I figured it out anyways

Well here's a warning. Under no circumstances let this and a ceiling fan (or other spinning thing) mix. Some guy in my grade 5 class did that, with predictable results. It left nice blue permanent splatters around the room

NI3? Our chem teacher liked to put some nice juicy crystals on the floor and let the ammonia dry off over night. He also captured the hydrogen gas from lithum and sodium in an upside down test tube full of water standing in a crystallisation dish full of the same to show it was hydrogen, he tried the same thing with potassium(he put on safety goggles, a robe and gloves and told us to stand back), some how air must have leaked in when he tried to stick the potassium in, that test flew straight up with a bang and got stuck in the soft ceiling tiles. He also showed us the reaction between very fine magnesium powder and dry silver nitrate mixed togheter when you put a drop of water on it, whenever someone said they couldn't remember what a redox-reaction was(hint, if you close your eyes you can still see a faint upside down truncated cone shape 15 minutes later).

edit: Oh and I've made icky goo that can rival anything. I was trying to do rye meal porridge, I put cocoa powder in it and it didn't go so well(brownish slime that takes freaking forever to dissolve in water and I didn't want to just flush it down the drain and trust that it wouldn't clog anything).

Gas and styrofoam is more fun, that crap never comes off. And its flammable to boot.

Disclamer: I will not be held responsible by the effects of the above to anyone who tries it.
