Ns Crashes All The Time

NS will crash after playing for a few minutes, sometimes longer. i have all my drivers up to date, i installed NS properly, but still no luck.

my specs are

amd xp2100+
geforce ti4200
512mb pc2700
realtek onboard sound
win XP Pro

any help would be great thanks

Problem Here Too

I also seem to have a severe crahsing problem-

beta 3.5 crashes within five minutes or so of luanching a game "offline" with ...

rcbot 1.3 -

whichbot .93-

hivemind -

when running online game....
browse server -first time is fine ,join game major problems i.e ping 3000-5000

arfter the first time server browser run-then arfter on displaying games with
minium ping of 1000

this then goes on through out all valve games and installed mods,until steam
is logged out or restarted...
this problem dosen't seem to exist in any valve game or mod until ns has been
launched ...

sorry to post again but

p.s have read the steam forum link-i don't thing i fit it to that problem guide

also if i run a "tourament mode"

game wont crash

but me(player) and all bots are like "god mode"....?

Please i would really like some help...NS

btw My steam platform and all other games run "As good as Gold(hl2 that is ha)"

When I bring up the console in game my computer crashes. Sometimes it does work normally, but at other times it simply freezes my game screen and repeats the last second of audio. My drivers are up to date for my sound card, my pc is defragged, and I am at a loss. What are some possible causes of this and what would be the best way to fix them? I suppose that once in game I just wouldn't bring up the console, but what if I want to change servers? It is such a hinderance to reset my pc.

If it helps, some of my pc's specs are: ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, and Windows XP (though I don't have Service Pack 2 yet). I recently installed a new hard drive so I had to reinstall steam and NS (I don't know if bringing up the console would crash my pc/game in other HL mods... cuz I don't play them). NS/Steam would still crash on my old hard drive... and that had the latest driver for my ATI card... though now I an earlier version... but that should not have anything to do with it. Other games operate just fine... and some games better now that I don't have the latest driver.

I am open to any suggestions and ideas.

OK Asteroth since you're the only one in this thread to go to the trouble to list symptoms & detailed setup info you're probably the only one who its possible to help.

First you should try playing a game of HLDM. Not just starting a local game but connecting to a server & then hit your console key and see if it has the same problem. Do it more than once to make sure of your findings.
Also how often do these crashes occur? Is it every 2nd time you try to open the console or every 10th time or what?
Personally I think it could be your Audigy 2 causing the problems as I've heard nothing but bad things about the whole Audigy series. Do you have EAX enabled in NS? If so turn it off.
Check which version drivers you're using for your Motherboard, Graphics and Sound. For your Radeon click on Display Settings then Advanced then Options & it should say "Catalyst Version" at the top of the page.

I checked the Steam site about the crashes they had one similar to my issue but nothing that mentioned pulling up the console. The one post mentioned, as you did, to turn off EAX, and I have, but I have not played long enough to see if NS still crashes. I will keep track of the number of times I use console and determine if it's set or random.

Honestly, I have not had problems before with my Audigy cards with other games.

BIOS Version 8.015
BIOS Date 2003/10/06 (this might be a piece of the puzzle)...

For my Audigy 2 card it is the latest upgrade Creative has available.

I will try HLDM as you recommend and see how many repititions I can get.

Steam did help some but they didn't address anything about the console, only audio, and I think my issue might be related to both. The game runs fine up until a certain number of times of accessing the console - then the sound loops and the screen freezes.

Fixed Offline Problem

NS 3.5 is crashing offline for me due to the fact there
was an updated metamod version on the 31st of august
only just installed this,this morning ....

it's seems to be running quite well .....

now to look at my online problems...

btw-dont go into any details until someone has acknowled and is willing to help
