1. What video card do you currently use? With how much RAM?
Saphire Radeon 9800 pro, 128Mb ram

2. What driver version are you using? Why? Are you using Omega drivers or other modded drivers? Why?'
Latest Omega drivers, I had some problems with one of the catalyst builts, switched over to Omega for a fix, and then was to lazy to ever uninstall the Omegas properly again to get Cats, so unless my lazyness changes, I'm stuck with Omegas

3. What games do you currently play?
Doom 3, UT2004 (which is ****ing gorgeous on this card), and HL mods. Will be playing HL2 ASAP

4. Are you satisfied with your video card?
Its a friggin awesome card, when it starts showing its age I'm gonna OC it to an XP, but for now its everything I need

5. Are you planning on upgrading your video card in the near future?
Not until I have alot more school and alot more work under my belt (IOW, I need more money to consider computer upgrades at this point)

6. If so, will you stay with the company that has designed your current video card? Why or why not?
If I were to get another card, I would probably go for built by MSI radeon. MSI puts alot of unnessicary cooling on thier cards which apeals to a man of my geekyness.

7. When you're looking to buy a video card, what price range do you try to stay in?
I don't price range, I look at how much money I have, and I spend as much of it as I can.

8. Being as unbiased as possible, what company can you see coming out on top by the end of the 2004?
By the end of 2004? hard to say, will the next high generation cards be out by then? I feel Nvidia has a faltering but strangling grip, on the market ATM with their slightly over powered 6800 series, but look at the power costs on those cards, its insane. ATI builds a much stabler card, and I think they just got caught with thier pants down moving up modestly to their next hig gen card, compared to Nvidia, who went for broke and in my opinion essentially laid thier whole hand on the table. I think it is only fair to assume that the next ATI card, they won't make the same mistake again, and I think its foolish to assume that Nvidea has enough still left to pull another coup like they did in that last power pushing run.

9. Is there a particular feature missing from your video card's drivers that you would like to see?
Not particularly, but I'm not exactly a driver nut... Call me back when DirectRT is available

10. Are you having any major issues with your video card, at the moment?
*BOOM* "****!"... I mean, no, its great

1 - ATI Radeon 9200 128mb I believe, pretty sure I didn't get 256
2 - Cat 4.8s with Rage3D integrated card molesting#
3 - HL Mods, DOOM3, Dungeon Keeper 2 (damn Evil Genius demo making me dig this game out)
4 - Mostly, definately starting to show its age though.
5 - Most probably grab whatevers just below bleeding edge (9800 or x800 if they've come down in price) when HL2 is finally confirmed as being shipped to my door.
6 - Will be sticking with ATI purely because I've never had problems with them and you get in my opinion much better bang for your buck.
7 - £150 ish
8 - ATI I imagine.
9 - Not really, on a card lacking DX9 and most other fancy new stuff I can't ask for a lot.
10 - The only problem I've had recently is that DK2 won't run in anything over 640x480 without me getting bizarre black squares all over the display. Doesn't matter though as you can't tell the difference in res on that game anyway.

1. What video card do you currently use? With how much RAM?
Radeon 9800 Pro by Sapphire - 128 Meg Of Ram.

2. What driver version are you using? Why? Are you using Omega drivers or other modded drivers? Why?
Omega Drivers v2.5.67 - I use these because I can easily change
which openGL driver is being used. (I use the Normal Driver for
new-ish games such as Doom 3 but I use the old driver for the likes
of Softimage|XSI and Half-Life.)

3. What games do you currently play?
Doom 3, FarCry, lots of Half-Life mods, PainKiller, UT2004.

4. Are you satisfied with your video card?
Yes, great card for the price. (£130 - 3 months ago.)

5. Are you planning on upgrading your video card in the near future?
Not the "near" future - but in about 5/6 months when PCI Xpress
is more common.

6. If so, will you stay with the company that has designed your current video card? Why or why not?
Depends on price ranges and performance reviews.

7. When you're looking to buy a video card, what price range do you try to stay in?
Between £50 and £150.

8. Being as unbiased as possible, what company can you see coming out on top by the end of the 2004?
nVidia - due to slightly larger customer base.

9. Is there a particular feature missing from your video card's drivers that you would like to see?
Not the current drivers, no. But the official ATi Catalysts could do
with some better OpenGL support for older programs.

10. Are you having any major issues with your video card, at the moment?
Nope, everything is finally running smoothly.

1. What video card do you currently use? With how much RAM?
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB

2. What driver version are you using? Why? Are you using Omega drivers or other modded drivers? Why?
I used to use the Omega's based on the Catalyst 4.8's, but have no updated to official 4.9 Catalysts with the ATi Control Center.

3. What games do you currently play?
Natural-Selection, Doom3, PlanetSide.

4. Are you satisfied with your video card?
Yes, definitely, 100%.

5. Are you planning on upgrading your video card in the near future?
Possibly much later next year, depending on what happens. (I got my 9800 around December last year.)

6. If so, will you stay with the company that has designed your current video card? Why or why not?
I'll definitely stay with ATi, too many I've my friend's nVidia cards either just blow up, or they repetitively crash they're computer.

7. When you're looking to buy a video card, what price range do you try to stay in?
Probably never going over $300 US, unless it's a real nice one for maybe $350 tops.

8. Being as unbiased as possible, what company can you see coming out on top by the end of the 2004?
ATi forever, as even Gabe supports them over nVidia.

9. Is there a particular feature missing from your video card's drivers that you would like to see?
No, new Control Center owns.

10. Are you having any major issues with your video card, at the moment?
None, and never have.

1) Geforce FX 5600 ultra 128 mb or ram

2) I believe they are still the 6xxx(?) beta drivers for the 6800 inclusion

3) NS, BF42, DOD, C&C ZH, Blitzkreig 2 (ZH mod), HW2 occasionally

4) can't really say I lag badly on BF'42 with all settings at minium, but I think that might be my **** old moniters ow refresh rate (on a side not does the moniter affect proformance?)

5) depending on wheather or not I get another job anytime soon and I can find a resonable card, yes probably

6) haven't decided yet, I would like to try and a redeon 9800.

7) mostly between 150-230(CDN) which can be a b**** if your looking for a reasonable card in a small town

8) Nvidia, their 6xxx series of cards (abiet power hogs) have alot more power per push than the x800 so I have heard

9) nope not really

10) nope not really except for the previous laggage which might not be the cards fault (*kicks moniter extra hard for being old*)

Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

2. What driver version are you using? Why? Are you using Omega drivers or other modded drivers? Why?
Catalyst 4.8. Seems to be the newest version, and I don't have doom3 so no need for betas.

3. What games do you currently play?
Half-Life mods, Far Cry, UT2004, Truck Dismount

4. Are you satisfied with your video card?
Absolutely!

5. Are you planning on upgrading your video card in the near future?
No

6. If so, will you stay with the company that has designed your current video card? Why or why not?
Yes. I've heard that Nvidia's latest cards aren't cutting it for latest games (ie the recent CS Source thingy with ati vouchers).

7. When you're looking to buy a video card, what price range do you try to stay in?
Under $200

8. Being as unbiased as possible, what company can you see coming out on top by the end of the 2004?
ATi, Nvidia doesn't have a response to the x800 yet. (or do they? who knows)

9. Is there a particular feature missing from your video card's drivers that you would like to see?
More support for Smartshader!

10. Are you having any major issues with your video card, at the moment?
Nope

2. What driver version are you using? Why? Are you using Omega drivers or other modded drivers? Why?
Catalyst 4.8s, because I'm not sure XP Media Center likes Omegas.

3. What games do you currently play?
Doom 3, Painkiller, Unreal Tournament 2004, Planetside, N the Ninja

4. Are you satisfied with your video card?
To an extent, the lack of shader support gets on my nerves, but it's solid for a card that game with an HP (btw =\)

5. Are you planning on upgrading your video card in the near future?
Aye, if prices go low enough I'll undoubtedly get a Radeon 9800 Pro, or, if the prices are low enough, a GeForce 6xxx

6. If so, will you stay with the company that has designed your current video card? Why or why not?
No, because of the lack of features that will be beneficial in the future (or so I've read).

$100-$250

Matrox!
