Of course you can circumvent this disadvantage by placing the towers in close corridors but thats not always possible. Not shooting alien towers are just a BARRIER nothing else. And even the strongest barrier falls at some point.
How about giving aliens LASER like turrets. Those turrets shoot an autoaiming and always hitting laser at incoming enemies. The laser damage wont be very high, but what counts is the damage over time, means how much time marines need to take out the chambers. If they take too long they lose too much health.
Simply compare the agressive potential of MARINES SENTRY TURRETS and ALIEN OFFENSIVE CHAMBERS. As a marine in HA i dont even fear those OCs. As a fade tho and even as onos i fear those sentry guns ALOT! Why? because the they always hit and you cant dodge them as well as those small projectiles coming out of the OCs.
They are slow fireing and easy to kill yes, but you can build frigging loads of them combined with loads of defence chambers and then you have a good attacking base.
Marine turrets, although powerful arnt as cheap and if you take out the turret factory they stop working.

Erm then dont build them at the end of long corridors....build them just round corners and if you can web the corner.
A marine comes around and gets stuck then gets shot...easy.
It's pathetic really.
