THESE ARE RENDERS OF THE FINAL PRODUCT!

Changes: Added ridges to the magazine and a charging lever/handle thing.

This will be sent out shortly to evilwallpaper, as I have already sent the bolt pistol.

    <img src='http://img72.exs.cx/img72/1350/BolterRender.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

(I love making fun renders like this one.)

Yes, I know that magazine could never hold 50 rounds, but it's fun to pretend.

    a few details that *COULD* be added; <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

a magazine release button set on the <where clip is incerterd>

The wings of the emperor on the front of the gun (skull with a single wing spread out behind it)

(or maybe if you are gonna try and make the TSA chapter of the adeptus astartes you could make a styelized version of the TSA logo) but though that would look cool, it would work against the general use of the gun so i would recommend going for the wings, if you decide to add something.

maybe beef up the <part on the side you pull back after reloading)
and the same for the trigger.

but other than those things, the model looks really good, and is good to go

EDIT; I know that most of those things could be skinned, but they look better if they are modeled, since you can see if its comming out of the gun or just painted when you are useing it.

About modelling things like that into the gun itself...i've got little idea how to do it, other than just create a raised portion of the weapon in the general shape of a skull and wings, just to be skinned over.

MAYBE IF TRIBAL-BOB EVER HURRIES THE HELL UP! (j/k!!! <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) He could tell me what to do.

I'm no expert modeller, but seems to me that the imperial insignia would be best skinned on.

EDIT: Oh crud, my MS3D trial expired grrr.

Luckily, Im now employed so I can afford to register it

    Yay!

It's all good Bob and Evil, there is no rush at all. You both volunteered...kinda, to help me along with this. (Well, evil did, Bob just jumped up and started modeling.) But the point still stands, take as long as you need!

Again, thanks for helping me out.

*edit* And because im basing this pack around the TSA Chapter, I want to include markings similar to those found on the TSA Chapter marine that is currently available. I still need to get in touch with the person who created it, to see if it would be okay to use that model for light armor. Seeing as it already has a jetpack, and there is no reason why it cant carry all of the weapons. (it also saves myself and a few others involved time.)

Two things I have problems with that model.

    1) There are a few clipping issues due to default animations... personally I think it would be cool if we could find an animator and get new animations.

    2) There are a few places where I think polys could be increased a little, mainly the helmet and shoulders. Aside from that, that would be a good LA model. (I was thinking about modifing the chapter colours a bit, add a little depth maybe some white trim thrown in there.)

EDIT: Here's my own take on the TSA chapter colours, just changed the shoulder trims to white and gave the shoulders a black colour. I was going to make the right kneepad white as well, but the way the UV map is setup, half the other kneepad gets coloured white too.

I really like the idea of changing up the chapter colors a bit, should be pretty cool!

I was thinking instead of black, what about white like the rest of the Wh40k universe uses?

You'd still be better off making a Scout for the LA, and Tactical Marines for HA. It makes the weaponry match the 40k universe better, means the LA will actually look cooler, and makes the stance on the HA more appropriate.

    Just my 2c.

    Scout with HMG (Heavy Bolter)

If anyone's tweaking the TSA Space Marine then for the love of bunnies do something about those static kneepads... they should be on the knee, not floating around attached to the shin...

Let me rephrase. White like the Black Templars use. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> (Black Templars are 1337, no questions.)

Anywho, I dig that picture you posted Wolf, I need to find something else to get started on, perhaps the GL. Are there any suggestions as to what I should make for that?
  • PriestPriest Join Date: 2003-01-08 Member: 12042Members
    edited September 2004
well that is a problem... as far as i know there are no GL's in the WH40k universe, only missile launchers....

Idea; you could make sort of a mix between a bazoka with a drum mag on... hard to describe, ill try to make a pic of what i mean later.
but that is prolly the best idea i can come up with...

EDIT; is the reload animation for the GL seperated in 4? meaning that we could use something with a clip, and still have it look good in the animation?

We could always just do a plasma weapon of some kind. I recall someone suggesting that at one point.
  • PriestPriest Join Date: 2003-01-08 Member: 12042Members
aye there are a couple of diff. plasma weapons. the only trouble is that plasma dosent bounce.... and are really hard to reload one round at a time.

could go with some sort of hybrid on that... *imagines the barrel design of the GL but a more bolterish look, and with rounds that had a blue glowing tip of sorts) would need a custom exploding sprite of course, but i think it would be cool <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Ive already gotten in touch with a member of the Rival Species mod team, asking permission to use their plasma projectile and explosion. Oh, and weapon firing sounds, since I think most of them sound good enough to be used here.
  • PriestPriest Join Date: 2003-01-08 Member: 12042Members
Nice... now i have to go play it again since i never got around to picking the plasma weaps.
  • NecrosisNecrosis The Loquacious Sage Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18828Members, Constellation
There are plenty of GLs wielded by Imperial troops... just not marines. Marines use auxiliary launchers that are bolted on to guns or armour.

Look in the Imperial Guard and Imperial Agents sections of your nearest store to see imperial GLs. They look a bit like the GL used by Arnold in T2.

    OMG!!11 <3

This is amazing, I must start on a chainsword mdl, but if I make a chainsword I will use it and therefore betray my Katana mdl, and it doesn't like it when I must it away. It tells me to kill things...

I'll start on a chainsword on Tuesday I guess. I'm busy Monday.

In theory I'm not allowed to use the computer. Dont tell my dad, it's my bloody computer anyway...

Progress on the chainsword is slow, since I only get like an hour everyday. I've got the backchannel (For the teeth to go into) and am beginning on the sword (where the sword will travel). I might be over-complicating it, not sure...

That spork is looking good right now.
  • PriestPriest Join Date: 2003-01-08 Member: 12042Members
Tried my hand at modeling and as everybody seem to start with a blade i triied the chainsword... meh i suck

    @mirrodin

Don't have 3DS sorry. I'm using Milkshape. I used 3DS in school and is so much easier >.<

    UPDATE:

Finished sword and backchannel and am currently working on the power plant. I need help in the Help forums, go there to speed it up.
