Since Beta5, 95 percent of co games are won by marines, everyone always stacks marines. I would like to see a beta 5a haha <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> with the following changed



Limit the GL for the marines (say 1 per 6 marines, Too many noobs use them)
Fix the wave respawn system (Everyone complains in the NSArmsLab Servers about it, beta4a was better. Vi va la 1.04!


Most people would have to agree on this.

    I think part of the problem is that aliens are playing on the offensive too much. Charging in and dying rather than holding back and ambushing. Aliens are still very powerful, you just have to avoid stacking the respawn queue.

    Ive played games where aliens have dominated for 25 minutes (30min timelimit) but most of the higher lifeforms happen by chance to die at the same time and the hive (at 100%) was destroyed within 30 seconds by a single marine rush.

    The pressure really is on the alien team. As marines get more and more levels, jetpackers begin to appear. Eventually, critical mass is reached, some of the higher alien lifeforms die, and the hive and all fresh alien respawners are completely and swiftly decimated by what truly is unbalanced in co - the jetpack.

    Because jp rushes are far more effective than fade rushes

    And because fades are easy targets but jetpacks are impossible to finish off if they have any idea about what they're doing

    Marines are slightly better at early game, but late game aliens own combat.

    Web has always been a game ender and the new carapace and redemption make onos a real best.

    However, if marines take an early advantage, it can be hard to come back.

    It's really stupid that when aliens spawn, they need to evolve back because eggs can be killed so easily with jp and shotgun.

    Let's say I rush shotgun then jp...I rush to the hive, spawn kill forever till the rest of the HA with gls (nubs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->), come and finish the job with me.

    Its not stupid, just needs balancing. The point is that Higher lifeforms are worth 2 marines, so there needs to be a payoff for killing one. Fades for example get to have more upgrades than they can have in classic, yet marines have fewer.

    The only problem is that JPs are too mobile now. You used to have to land for a second to regain fuel and that gave aliens a chance to take them down. Now you have to rely on mid air hits which can become more luck than judgement in a server with lag.

    Sure way to win a game if you can get the first 2 levels and your team-mates have a drop of intelligence.

    Uhm, he does have a point - on large servers, the price of a GL can quickly make being alien in co_ an exercise in futility. On many maps its nearly impossible to avoid some GL blast damage - with just 3 people out of 12 nading constantly, that lifeforms HP low and completely annihilates Skulks and Lerks.

    The only fix needed is really 3 required for the GL, and/or binding it to damage 2 as a prereq (effectively making it cost 4 points). The problem arises after all when you have JP/GL spam, and theres not a single spot in the Hiveroom where you're not taking damage.

    Or 100% GL FF to the firer and 100% on FF on servers. Whatever. I recently bothered to play a good few large pub games though, and this is really what happens. Take the co_faceoff Hive for example - fill it up with GL spam from 3 people, and 9 people using conventional weaponry, and it becomes nigh impossible to be effective (because only Fades and Oni stay alive at all - Webs, Lerks and Skulks are all either cleared or they flee through the vents into MS).

    If half of marine team has jp hmg resupply, game time is simply too long. There is usually 1 jp at 10 minutes and maybe 2 jps at 15 minutes mark. After that, they become rapidly common.

    All you need is webgorge and fairly good focusfade.

    how was the beta4a respawn system better? it was horrible! you only spawned one at a time, so once aliens (or, less often, marines) wiped out your base and started spawn camping, the game was essentially over. Aliens would waste 10 minutes of your funtime by sitting in base and chomping the occassional spawning marine while ever_so_slowly chomping the CC. Only slightly more fun than clipping my toenails. At least with b5a there is a chance for a side to make a comeback if they all die. I've played as marine, beat off a mass skulk spawncamping, and won the match before, so I know it's possible.
    You must be confusing the beta4a respawn with Cheesy's respawn system, which was pretty good. Although IMO i think that if the Day of Defeat spawn system were used it would be even better.

    There is a certain mentality carried across the vast majority of gamers: no matter what, winning is best. If there is a perceived advantage of marines winning the majority of the time, then they will be stacked. I really have not noticed a significant marine advantage, unless the teams are skill/team stacked...not to say I'm not seeing that happen a lot.

    Get leap focus early game and its all over for the marines, though i find that too easy. Web / xeno / Fades are also other options.Theres also a reason why theres a default 15 minute time limit (or was it 10?), play on a 45 minute timer server and dont expect to win much as aliens.

    And dont charge at the marines 5 deaths in a row at the beginning of the round and then wander why they have armour level 1, shotguns , and resupply before you even have your first upgrade.

    The GL is not unbalanced and it never has been unbalanced. In addition to that, newbs with GL's are a walk in the park, if you can't aviod thier nades, you deserve to die you sucky sucky skulk. A good player with a GL is scary, but no where near as scary as a good player with a shotty or HMG. Watch the grenades hit the floor and run towards the spammer when they do. GL only creates a fire wall if you have terrible timing, look at GL players as free kills.

    GL sucks as soon as friendly fire is turned on.

    I think the idea of Combat games are for aliens to defend and stop people getting Experience for the jetpacks until about 5 minutes from the timelimit.

    i would post a screeny showing my points, but i dont care and id be impossable.
    to begin...<ul><li>ailens are acting offensive, when on the hud, it declares "Defending"</li><li>a lot of marines get downright angry as soon as their affected by web, and sometimes i have witnessed kicking of gorges useing webs, i stood up for them and you know the rest</li><li>in short of #2, ailens are afraid to use their resources</li><li>the same goes for Xenocide, without kickage... thought id say that.</li><li>unfortiunaly, most servers set their time with impossable to live with time limits, thus making ailens think...</li><li>"we better take the cc before 30 mins are up"</li><li>your right, marines are always the 1st to have 4 members to the ailens 1 member</li><li>smaller lifeforms arent doing it right, a skulk is a trapper, thus it would be best for the skulk to trapcamp.</li><li>a good idea, is leap, if trapcamping fails get up close to your enemy, i have seen too many cases where ailens run blindly tward a marine, killing the skulk before it gets within a mile, silence also works good.</li><li>i cant think of anything else.</li></ul>

    Perhaps when we post these balance complaints, we can fully detail our post before hand.

    Such as :

    Combat games on large servers without FF and a longer timer make GLs unbalanced.


    Not from personal experience, but just kinda eyeing that, it's probably correct.

    I do fine in Combat as alien too. By the time Marines have a GL I'm usually an Onos with redemption or Fade with redemption and cara. Simple solution to GL spam is to be any lifeform but a skulk. Stop trying to get your upgrades first, get your higher lifeform first and stick close to the hive.
