Let's see....in combat focus costs 2 points....and is negated if a marine spends one point (incidently on an upgrade that every marine should get anyway because it's so useful) so obviously focus isn't overpowered in combat
If classic, lvl3 focus costs 40 res (10 for gorge, 30 for 3 chambers) + 2 for every skulk that wants it, and every time they die they have to repay that 2. The upgrade that agains negates it costs 15 res for the arms lab and 20 for the upgrade. Throw into the equation the fact that skulks with focus take down rts much slower, and the only conclusion I can draw is that focus is NOT overpowered. Stop crying. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

the drop in rof makes it deadly unworthy. better would be when they reduce the damage boon to 50% (aka 75 base damage + 37 focus damage), but also increasing focus' ROF for that. I would say, reducing base damage but increasing RoF for that is the only beef viable.
Also... If my team is smart enough to go sens first, I'll choose cloaking - nothing is better to sneak up to a group of rines, uncloak and rip them to shreds.
if you think, focus is better then cloaking, i can only say one thing: grow up from kindergarten and go to school.

If you think cloaking is better than celerity/silence/cara as a skulk you need a reality check. Cloaking works against incompetent teams in classic. Only once have i ever seen Sensory used first in a clan match. And that was during 2.01 on tanith which we promptly rolled over the opposing team :|. Infact the only time I've seen sensory first work well was right at the start of the game when you have 5 skulks base rush with cloaking so the base guard doesn't see crap. And I've only heard of that being pulled off once successfully in a clan match. Albeit I haven't played a 3.0 match as after beta testing it we got burned out on NS :\. But we came to the general consensus that while focus was good it was too easy to counter by an upgrade 99% of marine teams get right off the start. Sensory first will never be viable unless it gets a major overhaul. For the price you pay for a chamber and the 3 upgrades. It just isn't worth screwing over your higher lifeforms so you can "maybe" kill the marine in 1 bite. Or attemp to ambush 4 marines with cloaking.

Sensory rocked that map hard because there was two chokepoints that divided the map. After that you just made each area cloaked and got the focus upgrade, and had one player rush lerk with scent of fear. The lerk would spore the marines and would make them one hit kills every time. The skulks could hold off even multiple shotguners and a scan from an observatory because they also had to go up a ladder.
