Well, the only strategy that ever worked for me was that marines need to overwhelm the aliens in the early stages of the game. Because as soon as the aliens got the chance to upgrade to Onos and Fades we always lost. To tell you the truth I have only won twice with <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> , even if everybody is following orders.

The fact just is, that if the <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> wait to long before they decide to attack the aliens are almost invincible. Well that is at least my experience from playin this game for 24 hours in two days.

    actually the mariens DON'T have to rush the aliens.
    THEY HAVE TO RUSH THE RESOURCES..

    the point of rushing is to force the marines to slow down expanding. If the marines are forced to build defences in their base they can't afford to buy nozzles. My alien team has 2 gorges going to resources points while the skulks are taking out the main base. If we win on the rush that just goes to show the marine team was incompitant and that just saved us a game that would have been retarded anyways.

    Ive been in games where marines ( i was marine) have won when were getting rushed by sulks


    WE LOST 4 games in a row on a single map ( duno if it rotated this server?) due to JUST sulks- and a cruddy commander and people wouldnt work together


    but on the 5th time people spread out, was a decent sized game, 10 each side


    we put 3 on each entrance to marine start ( forget map name lol) but there were 2 entrances


    1 commander

    2 built the stuff


    One sat on commander chair and shot whatever the 3 missed


    Well on one side they broke through easily. Usually ive seen aliens only rush one entrance to base in maps like this, they didnt "split'" up as intended. So one of the guys from my side ran over to other side to reinforce. Fortunatly me and this other guy stayed, cause in the 2nd wave they came thru our side

    Point is, our spanw was down to yellow health, almost red, but we kept them back long nuff to get armory up, spawn health, drop 2 turrets each side, then we just headed out and did fine...



    Worked really well- but even if you get owned by <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> s at first, eventually, if you learn from mistakes and adapt to situations ....the <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> s can pick up the pace after that first rush wave or two, and can get first base up nuff to survive and move out .... i hate it when people call it quits JUST because they died to sulk in first rush- even with 2 guys left in spawn room, if they decent they can clear sulks up and everyone else can sapwn b4 its too late!

    -nod- i was just pointing out the part where Marines give up n' run for cover...i.e. they cannot kill skulks very well...Wish there was a target practice thing for em <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
    But yes i have survived most rushes and rebuilt after that...and depending on how my team survived
    (no casualties --/--slaughterhouse) I usually win thereafter.

    Marines need more confidence...i see far to many of them give up to easily <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    When you start, have at least 2 marines defend the entrace to the base and the rest build 2 spawn points, followed by an armoury. Dish out a set of mines to 2 players and have them mine every door in the vicinity, rushes will fall very very short if they all have to keep respawning from the hive (get em all and they get uber queueage <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    After you grab a few resource towers, mine them to f00k too and push as fast as possible towards the closest hive.

    Send out scouts to find any alien resource towers and note them, if there are multiple defense structures its better to let it be until you have better weaponry.

    Just remember, the best way to defend is to make it so they will only come through the entrance you are expecting. If you mine every corridor but one, they will either go suicide to remove them (very few players will do this!) or take the only available route and (hopefully) get done in by static long-range defences, or any marines you have stationed there.

    And finally, never ever EVER leave an outpost unattended!! Turrets simply cant defend themselves without backup!
