    Though it should be close. VUG still has to playtest the game some, and then if all is good, it goes GOLD, otherwise, it's submitted back to Valve for revision.

    Not that big of a deal.. the first RC rarely ever goes gold. The one to go gold can be anywhere from 3 to 33...
    or more.. But never the first.

    and.. the time inbetween an RC can be a couple of weeks... or more..

    Oooh spam thread about some crappy news headline, who cares?! It doesn't confirm nor deny when the release date for HL2 will be, its still a mystery. The RC could need a hell of a lot of a remake or something. Stop speculating about gold and stupid crap like that, just deal with the facts one at a time, and remember the past facts.

    lol. well i'm not saying i wouldn't love HL2 to be done *right now*, but it's unusual. But alas, history shan't repeat itself with time around. Notice that this is the second RC, not the first. But we can hope. ^_~

    Keep in mind this doesn't mean HL2 is going gold. There may be problems with the QA. If you think this is the very first RC valve has submitted, you're fooling yourself. But since they are talking about this one then chances are they feel it will go through the QA process.

    And if they don't take at least 5 business days or so to test this before declaring it gold, then be prepared for HL2 to be riddled with bugs (like HL1 was when it first came out, as was pointed out by someone else it was only tested for 2 days before being christened 'gold')


    Yes, I am a pessimist. And you better hope the QA department is filled w/ pessimists, because those are the types who make better testers and don't assume things work and let bugs slip through. :P

    Generally its about 2 weeks, but with a high demand game like HL2 it might take a bit longer. Or it might actually take shorter, as they may have things like the manual and the boxes already just sitting around waiting to have CDs put in em since they know it'll be so big. Dunno.
