awesome strategy, and it works!!
Here's a strategy I tried in a game earlier today. It's a bit cheap and not particularly innovative, but it's still incredibly satisfying to rip apart 4 marines in HA over a 90 second span.

First, find an air duct in a moderately high-traffic corridor. Lay down strings of webs near the floor outside the duct exit as a gorge (or get another gorge to do it). Evolve to skulk (if necessary), then simply park yourself just inside the duct and wait for that lovely webbing sound as it wraps itself around a marine. Burst out, tear him apart, and retreat to the duct for the next victim.

It worked well in the 6v6 game I was playing because the marines were basically playing "to hell with teamwork, it's every marine for himself". This "web duct" strategy isn't something I'd use frequently, but I saw the potential when every marine was scouting the map alone and had expensive equipment.

Unfortunately, each marine never made the same mistake twice, but chances are it made them terrified every time they saw a web for the rest of that game.

Like I said, it's a bit cheap and not particularly innovative, but I've never had so much fun making a marine's life utter hell until now.

Sounds like a very cool and useful tactic. A nice twist to the normal "hide in vent, drop on someone, kill them" tactic . I'm gonna have to try this sometime

I've found that most marines aren't really intimidated by webs. If they're in a hallway and don't see any obvious traps (ie: offensive chambers around the corner), then they'll just walk through them and break the webs on purpose (assuming they don't have a welder with them) just to get them out of the way.

Webs can be a powerful aid since they can immobilize and disarm a marine temporarily, but most gorges only seem to use them to assist their offensive chambers.

    The best cheap strat...

    Web + 2/3 hive Gorge

If you see a HA or light armor marine coming stop what you are doing and switch to webs. While hes walking fire webs quickly at his feet. The either switch to healing spray or babblers and let him have it. Very fun

Well... as I've found I make a wonderful full-time Gorge, much like my clan-mate makes a wonderful full-time Commander... Web is my primary weapon.

Now if only trying to web a marine and switch to spit to kill them didn't kill ME anyways, I'd be in heaven. I still love when I see a HA with a GL or HMG charging me... and they suddenly stop because I just cut a web across their toes.

As it is now, I just keep webbing them in place as fast as I can, to keep slowing them down more and more and longer and longer. Eventually, some just kill themselves instead of stand there until a Skulk walks up and bites their kneecaps off. That's always a joy to me...

Moral of the story? Webbing isn't just for defensive use, a Gorge can gum up an entire Marine base during an assault to let an Ono tear down the place even easier! Add in a Lerk with Umbra to neuter turrets... and things get fun. Music to my ears is 'There are too many webs!' after an extensive flooding of the entire level with the goo.
