<div class="IPBDescription">since everyone has to use Steam now...</div> <!--QuoteBegin-Steam says+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Steam says)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><span style='font-family:Courier'>

Counter-Strike: Source Beta 1,331 831 58.509 million
TeamFortress Classic 917 861 43.484 million
Ok CS cheats because it get's three versions counted. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Therefore:
#1. CS -- Player Minutes / Month = 4,072,298,000 (sum total)
#2. DoD -- Player Minutes / Month = 224,801,000
#3. NS -- Player Minutes / Month = 61,821,000
#4. TFC -- Player Minutes / Month = 43,484,000
</span><!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
over 61 <i>million</i>, and we are larger than all of TFC! This is shocking considering # of servers is between 500-450 and average number of players and any instant is arround 1,500.
The Half-Life community's average unique users per month = 1,617,542
Anyone into statistics want to help expand the meanings in these numbers? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Comments
and everyone knows that ns is more popular than tfc, thats old news.
A large portion of the CS and TFC servers are empty, but nearly all of the NS servers have people in them. Why? look:
current stats (as in 15:24 EST)
NS
players: 1,545
servers: 456
ratio: 17/5 or 3:1
TFC
players: 980
servers: 842
ratio: 29/25 or 1.16:1
CS (roughly rounded total)
players: 116 thousand
servers: 50 thousand
ratio: 2.31:1
Actually the only mod that beats NS in higher ratio and number of players is CS:CZ. In other words, NS servers are less likely to be empty.
Conclusion:
<i>The simplest way to increase the NS community size is to make more servers. Trends also show that the largest server that can sustain a low ping is the one everyone tries to play one. Therefore add that these should be servers to hold 32 max players or more.</i>
Incorrect.
player min / month
not
unique players / month
Valve has sold arround 2 million copies of the HL engine.
Actually newbies quit because they join some random pub not knowing what to do and run around trying to kill things. However since the game is so team dependant and the average team is utterly retarded there is no way for them to derive enjoyment. Than instead of their head exploding because of a fairly simple game they quit.
If you started every new person out playing with people who actually know whats going on not only would they have a much higher chance of liking the game but they would also know more about the game in 2 weeks than most people in ns do now.
So people play NS for longer. That's not a bad thing.
~edit~
Did anyone read my conclusion? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Turn on bot filtering. (right click up near the tabs to sort by server name or ping)
Ns is balanced for 6 vs 6...so I never go over 18 player servers.
I think most newbies go in big servers.
No.
i guess it is players minutes
not players per minutes
would the equation be "players * playing minutes / 1 month "?
So tell me, write me, the questions you want me to ask them. And I'll try to get answers.
