adobe photoshop
file >> new
1280 x 1024 (or whatever your res is)
paste picture
eyedropper tool, click the base background color thing, the brown color
paint bucket
click empty spot
save as gif or jpeg or png or bmp or whatever
right click set as wallpaper
O:
wait you don't even have to do THAT, just set it as your wallpaper, and change your bg color D:
oh, thought you meant it was too small to fit on your current res
fine then. haven't tried it, but does it free transform okay and still not be blurry?
Bah I hate leaving blank space like that. I dunno, but a wall paper that doesn't take up my entire desktop just doesn't feel like a wall papaer to me. Nice picture though.
Actually its not really the same reason.., 'cause technically you still have as much 'can' as you started with, whereas a lower resolution image has a smaller filesize than the original.

Well it was a metaphor, but also consider that when you crunch the can its going to, ahem, rip and tear, and it will still be crumpled even if you try to stretch it out. Yeah you might get a close approximation as to what the can looked like, but it ain't the same. :P

Awesome! What's that comic from, anyway? I'm assuming those aren't the original words. (:
Yea, false advertising. Thank god! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
