    This should be in Tech Support, if an admin sees this put it there please.

    Fuzzy, Natural-Selection does not support software mode.

    What you have to do is go into options, then click the video tab.
    Look for a pull down menu that says "Software".
    Change it to OpenGL.
    Restart NS.

    Tell me if that works <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Download the latest drivers for your video card. Do you have a video card? What type?

    It's not this card. NS doesn't support software mode to the best of my knowledge.

    mirrodin, but apparently HL claims openGL is not supported on his hardware/drivers.

    If updating your video card drivers won't work, try to download the latest DirectX and switch to Direct3D mode. HL may use the DX's HEL (hardware emulation layer) which would let you play NS at a very low framerate...

    I've had this problem a while ago after i switched computers. I kept my old vid card and it didnt stay in OpenGL. If you have nvidia (geforce) then go to www.nvidia.com (is that right?) and download the latest drivers.
    You dont need to reinstall, i think.

    IIRC the default Windows OpenGL driver is a very old Microsoft software-only driver, supporting an out-of-date version of OpenGL (1.1 or 1.2, I think). If you install the drivers specific to your video card they will include the latest OpenGL hardware driver.

    Occasionally you can select some odd combination of screen resolution/depth (or try to force it to do anti-aliasing or something) that the hardware driver does not support, in which case it will fall back on the crappy old software driver.

    There are some cards that simply don't support OpenGL. If that's your case, use D3D. I only know one, though. (My old 4mb trident video card)
