Due to the huge flood of automated porn spam bots with random info (Totally unbannable for anyone asking. They are botnets of compromised systems using thousands of computers) and one joins the channel roughly every minute. As there is no way for us to automate removing the bots it requires constant IRC Op presence to ban them as they appear.

As a temporary solution we will be <u>temporarily</u> using the channel mode +r when fewer ops are around or busy.

+r means you have to be registered with Gamesurge to join the channel. This is a simple process and is required if you ever want to have permament access to any channel (Voice, op etc...). As none of the bots have Gamesurge accounts this method is 100% effective. If you don't think you have an account, then you don't.

    The auth process, while pretty simple for an average person to deal with once, is just enough trouble that doing it over and over again for bots would make it not worth the effort. So authed bots, I doubt that will happen, ever.

    Commando, I'm guessing it's rather annoying to try and swat individual bots when they come in and flood, doesn't baby onos auto pwn when people repeat?

    The bots don't flood the channel, they swarm and PM spam.

    They join and part in about a 30 second cycle and get a list of users to PM spam. They don't harass ops or voiced so they're harder to notice and as there are thousands of them with no relation to each other they are impossible to effectively ban.

    TBH, its not hard to make bots like that auth.. I can think of a pretty simple way, that would only require an email address, and some addtional scripts
