If you go for a Fade eye, I believe Flayra got a very high-res version of it (much higher res than you could ever want) that was given to him for his laptop. Maybe you could ask for a favor <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Have an onos devouring a marine like a JP trail leading straight to an onos or half of an HA body hanging out of an onos's mouth at the Marine/Alien split of the case
I think what you're doing right now is perfect, with a different team for a different side of the case. The Fade eye power button is also really cool, along with the resnode.

LOL stream of blue LEDs.....that would look horrible o_O
Good luck with the case mod. Especially the 'creep' thing...it might be very easy to make with some clay or plaster or something, but it's as hard as hell to paint <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
here is a shot of some of the foam pieces I've been working with. It's a polyuerethane foam used for filling misc holes, so you spray it and it expands into a hard rubbery substance that is very durable and easy to paint/sand. I sprayed some on a test case and it adheared to it well but I was able to pull it off, slap some super glue on and it stuck like a rock, had to literally tear it off
so here is a shot of some loose pieces on the other side of the case to give you all an idea of what the creep might look like, once it hardens, its almost impossible to change it's shape. But I think I'm going to go at this differently. Since I need to superglue it on anyways, I'm going to spray the foam on some wax paper first and then take it off, arrange it in the order on the case how I want it, then begin to superglue it to the case.
What do you all think of that idea? I'd like to get some imput before I begin the process this weekend. Hopefully by this monday I'll have the entire case prime'd and the creep glued in. Painting this is going to be the hardest part...
any experieced warhammer 40k painters out there wanna gimme some pointers
photoshopped the hive into the picture, I don't think I'm going to make a 3D hive, but rather a 2D hive with the bulb glowing yellow....and remember, the entire case will be painted like the walls of NS and the creep hopefully will match up nicely. enjoy
Ok, you should probably start with adding the hive to the side first, maybe something like a decal (you could probably print out a highres picture of the hive on photopaper), glue it to the side or go over it with some clear paint, then add the foam and paint it last using masking tape.
im going to cut out a small hole and place a piece of plexiglass in the whole...then get a high quality print out of the hive, place the hive over the window and put the glowing light behind the window, hopefully the paper will be transparent enough so you can see the glow behind it. Upon doing that, add the foam pieces to the case to try to hive up any evidence of a paper hive and get everything painted correctly. After all the painting is done, im going to apply 2-3 clear coats to give it a nice shiny appeal and to prevent any chipping, the paper should turn out nicely and almost appear to be an actual drawing on the case if i get a high enough resolution and some glossy paper
Ok, I like how you suggested on the front, having the vent with the glowing skulk eye.. . and what I said on IRC about the fade eye start button.. so here is what i'm thinking
The front of the PC, still dressed in creep, gets a vent on the front... in the vent, which is opened (not a slide vent, but a vent that is like.. opened to look a grill to a car.. whereas you can still see the bars... as if they were just lifted flaps to open...) with the push of a button... or manually... it reveals pitch back, then the glowing fade eye, which you use to start the pc, or you could have it start to glow when the vents open up... like a trigger when the vents lift...
So .. to sum up... vents lift open on front of pc, revealing pitch back to glowing... or just glowing fade eye, which you press to start the PC...

Painting-wise, I'd paint the entire "creep" black (or spray paint, if you intend to do the whole thing black) as an undercoat. Then work up with various manky browns and greens. Highlight with a dry brush ( wipe most of the paint off ) then just bursh all over the place so a lighter layer builds up. (lighter layer of green? Depends what colours you want..)
i may try a creep glow too, if my roommate can string together some leds, i can always drill into the back of the creep after the case is done and plant the leds in

If you plan on doing that style creep perhaps you should put a base coat of the poly urethane spary all over the place since most of the infestation testures in NS close to the hive are nearly solid. It would give the case some texture, and if you want to avoid having to superglue it on, you could try sanding the case to "rough" it up and give it something to stick to...
<a href='http://www.angelfire.com/apes/grkmanga/alienhive.html' target='_blank'>http://www.angelfire.com/apes/grkmanga/alienhive.html</a> u can put this mouse on ur case :-D. me and my friend just made it today

Although it does remind me of tentacles....
Mmmmm. Tentacles.
