<div class="IPBDescription">Your Thoughts?</div> How many of you go Onos as soon as it's available? What attack do you use if you like to use Onos? Are there an strategys you have that you find effective when using Onos?

I Know this, I only use "Charge" to kill the Marines first, then switch to bite and take out there structures.
as soon as they are available, i am far more likely to evolve to a gorge or lerk to support them. an onos on it's own is scary...but i don't mind sacrificing potential kills to umbra or heal him to make him truly fearsome.
First thing I do before entering a marine infested area is Primal Scream. Since the adrenaline recharges your energy so fast you can instantly switch to bite (#1) and start attacking. But remember, when your armor is gone and health starts dropping un der 200 you should be looking for an exit fast.
When I am injured I use primal scream again to get moving as fast as possible. As soon as I am clear I go to a hive or some defense chambers to heal.
Just use the above steps and the marines won't have a chance.
That's like attacking with 10 marines, so I usually go Fade and launches mortars at them.
Charge DOES hurt buildings! A LOT! it destroys them faster than your bite combined with primal scream!
The trick to damaging the buildings to to activate charge, run up to a building, crouch and <b>keep walking into it</b>! Onos tends to get stuck in the map a LOT, and there goes 76 resources (70 onos 6 for upgrades) when you have to suicide. Noted you can also blink into the map, but the ranged ability of bile bombs and the fact that Fades are now being very good aliens, most people take Fade.
I've taken Onos occasionally, but it's too bulky and seems to attract grenades. Also, the abilities are hard to use. Like charge, I don't think anyone's ever gotten that to work. I sure as heck dont know how to. Paralyze, is completely useless during a seige (should be a lerk ability). Bile bomb on the other hand is pretty self explanatory. And you'll live longer by avoiding all the gunfire.

As far as I can tell, paralyze never uncloaks you. Someone did manage to shoot at me when I was paralyzing him once though, but I think it's because he heard which direction the sound was coming from. I suppose combining with silence would keep that from happening, but adrenaline is far more useful.
Thus your hitting above the marines head...i've seen alot of onos die without killing anything and the only thing i can think of thats causing this (other than not pressing fire!) is they dont aim AT the marine.
i would think that MAY be your problem but who knows?

Defense- Carapace because any Kharaa who gets shot with a lot of bullets needs this.
Movement- Adrenaline because I can bite faster, charge longer and recover from battle cries more quickly.
Senses- I do not upgrade my senses until I get low on health. I will get healed to full in 5 seconds.
Gore- I bite fast moving marines. Remember to aim the center of the screen at your target (usually 45 degrees down)
Paralyze- I use this when sneaking up behind marines. (Yes, Onos can do that) In my experience they can always shoot back through. :\
Charge- Here's a nifty one that you all should know, so I will bold it. <b>You can use Gore while charging.</b> Also, charging hurts things at your cross-hair, so aim down. When attacking structures, crouch and hold forward while biting. I am pretty sure using charge repeatedly does nothing.
Primal Scream- It drains all your energy, so remember to wait for all of it to return before making any attack. With adrenaline, it would only be a few seconds. It will help both Gore and Charge, so remeber to use it before making any serious attack.
Defensive tactics:
Nothing soils more pants than a cloaked Ono. Though less dramatic, it is best to ambush from behind with an intial Paralyze. Don't do the scream first, unless you just want to frighten the poor guy.
Offensive tactics:
Hit and run is the best. Scream, rest, run in charging and goring the turrets or undefended turret factories. Ignore players for the most part. They are expendable, the structures are not. Run before your armour drops too low. Remeber that Onos die faster that Lurks if they run our of armour. When you need health, run out and evolve your senses for a free heal, get a gorge to patch you up, or stand by Defense Chambers or Hives.
Real Onos only press W. Avoid strafing and backpedling. They slow you down and do not deal damag with the charge.
Onos can fit through suprisingly tight places if they crouch. Never jump on Kharaa structues, though it is safe to run across the top of marine structues. Try this. Strafe into a wall, now crouch and try strafing closer. You will be suprised. Use this to get around obstructions. Hug the wall.
Ignore tripmines and grenades. A charging Ono who has just heard a Primal Scream can avoid most damage from the trip mines. As for grenades, there are other things that will hurt you more. Like HMGs.
Whenever you run out of energy, it is best to rest. Either fall back and get healed or stand still and cloak. Simply sitting and biting once a second is quite ineffective.
Gorges are your friends. Have them heal you and build Defense Chambers whenever possible.
Lerks are also your friends. Have them fly in and land on Turret Factories and start spitting out their magical gas. You will be able to destroy it nearly unscathed.
Have Fades or Lerks attack marines from a distance while you have your way with the marines. They will keep to dreded HMGs off your back and even help you in destroying structures. Remember that turrets attack the closest enemy.

A) They get stuck
B) They have to crouch constantly to get past like 50% of the map architecture.
C) About 50% of mine instantly die from the Anti-Script code. Seriously, I cannot change weapons when I am an Onos or I get insta-killed. Guess my fingers are too fast or something. So I can't Gore and Charge simultaneously.
D) They often get stuck when they use Redemption.
E) They are huge targets, and die very quickly.
However, I certainly don't mind having them on my team so the marines and turrets ignore me.

I have tried this numerous times on a server with mp_drawdamage 1, and Charge does nothing. Until I see I demo, I won't believe that charge is effective against buildings.
Instead of telling the other person they are wrong try experimenting yourself!
