    Unless we have Lv3 cloak I dont go Onos personally. They're pretty popular and someone has to support them. I take cries of "EVOLVING INTO ONOS!!!!!!11" as my cue to start doing Kamikazee Deathdog attacks on the marine spawn.

    I Find that "Charge" completely owns marines. Before I storm a base as onos, I let out a primal scream for my teammates, switch to charge, and unleash all hell! Also paralysis is also very good if you have some teammates tagging along with you. I spam paralysis to every marine I see and watch my teammates wreak havoc on them while they cant shoot for those six seconds, then I switch to "Charge" and finish the rest off.

    I Know this, I only use "Charge" to kill the Marines first, then switch to bite and take out there structures.

    as soon as they are available, i am far more likely to evolve to a gorge or lerk to support them. an onos on it's own is scary...but i don't mind sacrificing potential kills to umbra or heal him to make him truly fearsome.

    I found the most effective way to use an Onos is upgrade adrenaline, cloaking, and carapace. With this combo you will kick butt.

    First thing I do before entering a marine infested area is Primal Scream. Since the adrenaline recharges your energy so fast you can instantly switch to bite (#1) and start attacking. But remember, when your armor is gone and health starts dropping un der 200 you should be looking for an exit fast.

    When I am injured I use primal scream again to get moving as fast as possible. As soon as I am clear I go to a hive or some defense chambers to heal.

    Just use the above steps and the marines won't have a chance.

    I don't go Onos if we have 2 of them allready, because I think it's unfair. With Carapace, they have same armor as HA's, but 400 health more than the marines.

    That's like attacking with 10 marines, so I usually go Fade and launches mortars at them.

    I rather go fade or gorge since onos can be a bit slow at times and the marine I they keep circling me when i'm a Onos.

    Charge DOES hurt buildings! A LOT! it destroys them faster than your bite combined with primal scream!

    The trick to damaging the buildings to to activate charge, run up to a building, crouch and <b>keep walking into it</b>! You can mow down turrets like marines ><!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    There's an evolving trend of going Fade instead of Onos. Why?

    Onos tends to get stuck in the map a LOT, and there goes 76 resources (70 onos 6 for upgrades) when you have to suicide. Noted you can also blink into the map, but the ranged ability of bile bombs and the fact that Fades are now being very good aliens, most people take Fade.

    I've taken Onos occasionally, but it's too bulky and seems to attract grenades. Also, the abilities are hard to use. Like charge, I don't think anyone's ever gotten that to work. I sure as heck dont know how to. Paralyze, is completely useless during a seige (should be a lerk ability). Bile bomb on the other hand is pretty self explanatory. And you'll live longer by avoiding all the gunfire.

    Just my opinion.

    by the time u have onos the marines are usually pinned to a section of a map, evolve as close to that as possible, upgrade regeneration and speed. primal scream by an entrance to the marine area, and charge (3, mouse click, mouse click, head down, RUN!) take out the marines, then crash into the guns so that all the fades behind u can get in with out getting mown to pieces, works a treat, if u get hurt a lot, hide behind the door again til health is back up and charge back in, marines wont have had time to recover.

    I've found that Onos work best in packs of 3 when rushing. The marines run for their lives when they see 3 of them charge into their base. Then I come in and clean the inaccessable ones up with spores <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You people are wrong. Charge absolutely dominates buildings, you just have to keep running into it. With level 3 adrenaline, you can destroy a turret factory by just holding the forward key into it. Try biting a sentry turret to death, and then charging one. It takes about 3 seconds for it to die with charge.

    Well I really have to learn how to use the onos abilities because every damn time I end up evolving into one (and I get Carapace Adrenaline and Cloak) If i rush a marine base I get killed in like 5 seconds widouth even being able to scratch a single structure. I tried Primal scream, I tried charge and I tried bite. All to no avail. I must be doing something wrong. Someone suggested crouching, I'll try that next time. But please someone give me a course because so far I do much more damage as a skulk than I ever did as an Onos.

    Onos' primary use should be primal screaming....

    Use primal scream and a level 3 adrenaline and then charge/paralysis

    Cloak outside the marine base and paralyze any marine as soon as they run by you. Keep hitting them with paralyze every 5 seconds or so. Since that skill is so underused most people don't even know about it, and they get *really* mad and think the game is buggy because they can't move. Then gore them and wait for the next guy to do the same thing.     As far as I can tell, paralyze never uncloaks you. Someone did manage to shoot at me when I was paralyzing him once though, but I think it's because he heard which direction the sound was coming from. I suppose combining with silence would keep that from happening, but adrenaline is far more useful.

    ive never gotten charge to work well with me... maybe its that i have AR hands... not sniper hands... or my small mouse pad :'(

    with onos people tend to just aim dead center of hte screen....i dont mean the cursor moves around your screen i mean that people aim at head level of the onos.

    Thus your hitting above the marines head...i've seen alot of onos die without killing anything and the only thing i can think of thats causing this (other than not pressing fire!) is they dont aim AT the marine.

    i would think that MAY be your problem but who knows?

    I normally only go Onos if the following two statements are true: 1) I have the resources 2) I'm a skulk, mostly because I just died, otherwise I just always go Fade. I seem to stay alive longer as a Fade because of how much faster they are then Onos and their more agile, able to jump on top of alien OC's and DC's without getting stuck. I just cause so much destruction with the Bile Bomb. But when I am an Onos I do cause a huge amount of damage. Charge, despite what many people still think, causes SEVERE damage to buildings, faster than any other attack in the alien's arsenal. Also, there's nothing like using Primal Scream with a group of Fades, watching them launch Bile Bombs at accelerated speeds <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    As an Ono, I chose Carapace and Adrenaline.

    Defense- Carapace because any Kharaa who gets shot with a lot of bullets needs this.
    Movement- Adrenaline because I can bite faster, charge longer and recover from battle cries more quickly.
    Senses- I do not upgrade my senses until I get low on health. I will get healed to full in 5 seconds.

    Gore- I bite fast moving marines. Remember to aim the center of the screen at your target (usually 45 degrees down)
    Paralyze- I use this when sneaking up behind marines. (Yes, Onos can do that) In my experience they can always shoot back through. :\
    Charge- Here's a nifty one that you all should know, so I will bold it. <b>You can use Gore while charging.</b> Also, charging hurts things at your cross-hair, so aim down. When attacking structures, crouch and hold forward while biting. I am pretty sure using charge repeatedly does nothing.
    Primal Scream- It drains all your energy, so remember to wait for all of it to return before making any attack. With adrenaline, it would only be a few seconds. It will help both Gore and Charge, so remeber to use it before making any serious attack.

    Defensive tactics:
    Nothing soils more pants than a cloaked Ono. Though less dramatic, it is best to ambush from behind with an intial Paralyze. Don't do the scream first, unless you just want to frighten the poor guy.

    Offensive tactics:
    Hit and run is the best. Scream, rest, run in charging and goring the turrets or undefended turret factories. Ignore players for the most part. They are expendable, the structures are not. Run before your armour drops too low. Remeber that Onos die faster that Lurks if they run our of armour. When you need health, run out and evolve your senses for a free heal, get a gorge to patch you up, or stand by Defense Chambers or Hives.

    Real Onos only press W. Avoid strafing and backpedling. They slow you down and do not deal damag with the charge.

    Onos can fit through suprisingly tight places if they crouch. Never jump on Kharaa structues, though it is safe to run across the top of marine structues. Try this. Strafe into a wall, now crouch and try strafing closer. You will be suprised. Use this to get around obstructions. Hug the wall.

    Ignore tripmines and grenades. A charging Ono who has just heard a Primal Scream can avoid most damage from the trip mines. As for grenades, there are other things that will hurt you more. Like HMGs.

    Whenever you run out of energy, it is best to rest. Either fall back and get healed or stand still and cloak. Simply sitting and biting once a second is quite ineffective.

    Gorges are your friends. Have them heal you and build Defense Chambers whenever possible.

    Lerks are also your friends. Have them fly in and land on Turret Factories and start spitting out their magical gas. You will be able to destroy it nearly unscathed.

    Have Fades or Lerks attack marines from a distance while you have your way with the marines. They will keep to dreded HMGs off your back and even help you in destroying structures. Remember that turrets attack the closest enemy.

    Personally, Onos are the last on my list of favorites in the game.

    A) They get stuck
    B) They have to crouch constantly to get past like 50% of the map architecture.
    C) About 50% of mine instantly die from the Anti-Script code. Seriously, I cannot change weapons when I am an Onos or I get insta-killed. Guess my fingers are too fast or something. So I can't Gore and Charge simultaneously.
    D) They often get stuck when they use Redemption.
    E) They are huge targets, and die very quickly.

    However, I certainly don't mind having them on my team so the marines and turrets ignore me.

    I don't like the Onos much myself. You cannot deny that they are mightily good at whooping backsides, but I prefer going as a Fade or Lerk to back them up, or maybe even a Gorge to heal and web (makes it easier for Onos to catch them hehe) or sometimes I use the distraction of an Onos charge to build a little cluster of offense chambers next to the marine base <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I have tried this numerous times on a server with mp_drawdamage 1, and Charge does nothing. Until I see I demo, I won't believe that charge is effective against buildings.

    I only go Onos if I can tell the match is almost over. Other than that I used Gorge and their babblers or a suicidal Skullk. Both are pretty fun, and babblers tend to confuzzle unwarry marines.

    Onos are EXTREMELY useful tools and sometimes the only way to take out a base. Fades are NOT good against buildings unless they can run up and claw them. If you have a bunch of fades acid rocketting something then yes it will die rather quickly but for the most part they cannot directly assault a base without backup. Also they cannot live long enough to run in and claw stuff to death in the middle of 10 turrets without umbra support. If the enemy is packing grande launchers your screwed. On the other hand onos more easily shrug off grenade launchers and can so massive damage if the enemy is kicking your **obscenity** with them. While 1 onos can and will be owned, 3 onos are devestating. I know this requires lot of resources but sometimes its for the best. If your a marines and you see a single onos rush in then all the marines concentrate fire on it and it dies rather quick. If 3 charge in the marines cant possibly hope to all coordinate their fire on a single onos and are usually too panicy to even attempt to. 3 onos live 10 times as long as one and do 3 times more damage. If you dont do massive damage with a 3+ onos rush then you either suck or that base is defended out the *censored*. If HMGs are owning you, then switch to a fade/ umbra tactic instead...if the enemy switches to nade lauchers again then you can switch right back.

    If a fade has Carapace and remembers to run before he loses too much armour, he can destroy a turret on a single pass, or a factory or heavy with an HMG in two. Onos are much better at this sort of dismantlement, though.
