December 14th
There was a thread on this a while back describing the new included scenes....there were alot of them but Its going to be even longer than I expected! 50 minutes of extra footage makes the new version of the film approx 250 minutes long. hooray!

The DVD collectors edition comes with a minature of Minas Tirth. I had hoped the collectable would have been a replica of the one ring. Bah....

December the 14th people. The one film to rule them all:

so, the extra footage IN the movie or as deleted scenes? I want to know if I buy or not.

And couldn't they have done a trilogy boxing?

edit: 4+ hours long!!! I hope the box comes with extra-comfy chairs as I expect sitting in through all 3 movies

I expect to count short breaks between movies. Obviously.

I also expect it to stay in one day (or afternoon) so the breaks won't be that short.

Return of the "omg, let's clip in 30 more crap and milk the cash cow" Fans are stupid anyway, they'll buy it ****ly

Give me a dvd without the extras and the extended edition, I'll buy the extended. You know, you could go on with ANY movie and say "why buy the DVD. I already saw it at the theatre. They're just trying to get more money off it"
Name me one coomercial company that doesn't try to gain profit. I mean come on, everyone's going after money in some way or the other.

I agree with Lurker. The Extended Editions are very good. The scenes they add are actually worth watching and fit very well into the film. And dont get me started on the Bonus making of DVDs. The most enjoyable "making of" features i've happened to watch. You really get a feel of the dedication, detail, and work these people have put into the films to make them what they are. And thats important.

    four frickin hours? that's insane.

*edit* but not as insane, or boring, as pride and prejudice.

OMG I want it now! The extended versions are so much better, the extra stuff isn't just fluff that was slapped together in minutes, it was all original intended to be in the theatre but taken out because of how long it would be. The regular DVD version pales in comparison to the awesomeness that is the EXTENDED DVD VERSION!!!1!!!1!!11!1! \/\/0o7!

Not too many people, and those who are probably smell.

I know I'll get it. The Mouth of Sauron and the Taming of the Shire replacement make it worth it alone, to me.

Not sure exactly what you're getting at there. There is no Scourging of the Shire in the movies, extended or not. It was never filmed and never intended to be in them. If you're refering to something else then I apologise.

I saw all 3 movies in theaters back-to-back, and I smell pretty darn good if I may say so myself.
