I do remember that, I but I think it was a mod cause I don't remember it being on every server.... I don't know it's been a long time since I saw that thing, but I think bringing it back for let's say, the commander and gorges to see would be nice.
I don't think the Marines and the other alien evolutions really need that message there though, only for the building units.

It wasn't a mod, it was built in during 2.0. You shouldn't be able to know how many resource towers the other team has, but you should be able to know how many your own team has. It shouldn't just be the comm and gorges, either. As a marine, assuming you don't have specific orders, it's nice to know whether getting to an open rt spot is more important (when you have only a few rt's), or attacking something in alien territory (many rt's). As an alien, it's good to know how important it is to drop an rt, versus dropping dc's/hive/going fade.

I'm getting rather tired of people asking: where do I go comm? I just said get RTs.. surely you don't need me to tell you which ones are free.
Old system: Easier, you don't have to hold your map button but you don't have a clue which RTs are actually free

Maybe if the map didn't take up the whole screen, and I didn't have to go around counting each individual node, then yes, pushing a button wouldn't be a big deal.

I say when you hit the map button, the number of RT's that your current team has should be displayed. That way the lazy people don't have to count and the weird people can still practice their counting. I would like to see a number display thingy reimplemented.

It is very useful, so much so that I begin to miss it when playing on other servers.

the process of finding these things out should be left to a good comm / patrolling skulks
