At a decent distance with Regen and a safe spot to fall back to, spikes could take out a lot! Spikes were almost too powerful at times, but lots of fun.

Hum...it works? I'll test.
Spike were usefull vs electrified rt and turret farming, and could actually stand up vs HA's in classic.
Now, nothing can really stand up againts a group of ha's exept the onos.

also as soon as you die you don't have it anymore

While I liked having spikes, it would make the lerk way too powerful early game. Remember its other use, breaking hive lockdowns while sitting in a vent spiking.

Actually, people voted to keep spikes and spores but remove bite. That was for 1.1/2.0. It wasn't until 3.0 that spikes were replaced with bite.
Ever since spikes went away there really hasn't been any alien i've been good at, or enjoy playing, and lack of any long range projectile attack makes aliens really homogenous, IMHO.

I'm guessing that it has bite and spikes as the slot1 weapon, making it a pain to use either weapon. Bite-only is fine. Spikes-only is fine. Bite+spikes in one slot is bad.
It bothers me...
I personally like the spike plugin with spikes in slot 2. Then I own as lerk.
Sometimes I'll fly down and bite a rine's leg, only to discover that I'm using spikes, damn. Or I'll sit in a vent and bite the air for a few seconds before I change the weapon.
The same slot thing sucks.

Are you kidding? Sup aliens underpowered even more. Nobody would use a lerk in clan games if it didn't have spore, at least not until 2 hives.
Gas is AMAZINGLY GOOD. It is one of, if not the best hive 1 alien weapon.
Edit: Doesn't anyone else hate how awhile after something is removed, everyone wants it back just like the 'good old days'?
I remember when Bite was being re-added, everyone was like "YES JUST LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS YIPPEE!!". Now it's like "We want spike, just like the good semi-old days!". Nostalgia is retarded.
