Doubt it since it is installed on a fresh-install of NS.

Thats an old thing that probably needs updating.. there is a setting to diable skin hack checking, can't remember what it is... (checks...)

You are using a very old version of the rcbot anyway so I think you should use the latest ones, maybe even the latest beta after installing the latest non-beta version. That's if you are using not a very old version of NS that is.

ps: bots won't see cloaked aliens in the latest beta

Those chatter bots get annoying after awile. One of them quoted me on somthing I said a week ago.

"Man jammno sure does pwn us bots! ~jammno". I said that a week ago on a server with bots. It's crazy that they remember what you say >_>.

I hate installing bots, its always so fustrating, gotta edit some file, something install metamod, edit other files so the other bot will work, d/l another file...

Its never a simple just download and done is it. I give up on using bots, out goes the window of me practicing commanding gg.

I haven't used rcbots in a while, but installing them used to consist of:

1) put files in correct folder (whoa, tricky!)
2) run the 'install' .bat file

Removing them was *extra* hard, you had to run the 'remove' .bat file.

And even if it was more complicated, that shouldn't be such a problem. Downloads come with README files. Reading them usually tells you what you need to know.

A little patience can take you a long way.

I've heard that WB bot has some problems if you have AMX v0.9.9, MM v1.17.1.

My clan used to use WB all the time til we had to leave WON and move to Steam and now we can't use WB or the server crashes... but that may be cuz of other plugins .. don't know .. and haven't been able to find any help on this.

We are using RCbot which seems fine. But I did like the WB bots .. oh well ..

Our server is still beat 4a tho becuase it seems we have mroe problems with the plugins not working if we go to beta 5 (as far as I know .. I am not very informative on this lol).

Which bot is best for all versions of NS and have no problems with any plugins?

Older versions of WB didn't work with beta 5 on Linux because the NS team decided to change the way that NS is built. The normal versions of Metamod didn't work either, FWIW. The latest version of WB should work fine with beta 5. If you're having trouble with your Metamod version, you might like to try the versions that are bundled with WB (see the links in the change log for more details).

I am not an AMX person, so I can't say whether AMX works under beta 5 or not - that would be a question for the server forums.

Hey guys.

I want to get RCbot and Whichbot, Whichbot I just downloaded, So I need to get RCbot. The links on this thread aren't working, and neither are the hivemind ones. Can anyone give me a link for downloading sum RCbots?

Oh and also how is that NS Bot Demo sposed to work? Its in sum kind of format my comp aint used to seeing..

Hi all,

I don't know if there's anything wrong with my NS or something (I have no problems pubbing) but when I set up a listenserver and I add a bot from either Hivemind or RCBot, my game just freezes and I have to CTRL+ALT+DLT...

I've reinstalled metamod and stuff properly for several times already, but this problem keeps on popping up...

First, answering rancid's questions.

RCBot is available at <a href='http://rcbot.bots-united.com/' target='_blank'>http://rcbot.bots-united.com/</a> . The HiveMind link is broken.
To run the HiveMind demo, put it in your half-life\ns folder, then run NS and type ' playdemo hivemind ' in the console.

Now, esaka,
What version of metamod are you using? What version of NS?
HiveMind only works with beta 5, and so does rcbot. You need to have the metamod all-mod-support patch 9 or 10 installed for it to work with beta 5.

I need rcbot but <a href='http://rcbot.bots-united.com/' target='_blank'>http://rcbot.bots-united.com/</a> is no longer working and i couldnt find anysite with it so if someone still has the latest version they can post or find a working link that would help me out a lot, I also need the latest version of MetaMod but www.metamod.org/ isn't working either.

Yeah Mirc is right, the RC bots link doesnt work. It just comes up with a PAGE CANNOT BE FOUND.

Is there any other places it can be downloaded from?

I did an exstensive search and I thought I found something when I came across this <a href='http://www.bgmod.com/team/jackhammer/QDP.html' target='_blank'>Quick-Access Downloads</a> but all sites just link back to the original site which is now gone offline it seems. THere also seems there will be a new site up but as for when it will be up no one knows ...

I have metamod v1.7 and Hivemind, NS 3.o beta 5 and i want ti play with the bot. But he always turn around the whole time. and i can't do anything to stop this. I downloaded the NS demo file but where i mujst put them so that they work. I where nice anyone can help me.

Well, I tried Whichbot which seems to be a fantastic alternative to RCBot and HiveMind in terms of my circumstances. I've been running Metamod version 1.17.1.9.

As for which NS, I've been running Version 3 Beta 5, the latest release I presume?

Edit: I used to host servers with Counter-Strike bots (PODBot) and TFC bots (FoxBots) before so I think I have all the plugins.ini and etc. set up all properly...

Is it necessary to have metamod? I had it once, it screwed up my whol steam games list, how to download every game from scratch AGAIN, with 56k! what a pain. do u have to use metamod? I stilll dont understand how it works or what it does.

As for the bots, NO LINKS WORK, Except for whichbot. They all just go in circles. And the other 2 just dont work at all.

The RCBot site has just gone down. I dont know when It'll be up but if its not within the next week i'll email Cheeseh to find out whats going on.

And yes, for 2/3 bots you need metamod.

I have actually started on a new NS bot myself "Lerky Bot" it hasn't been released yet, however, it does follow waypoints and has probably has the best lerk movement as it is designed specifically for lerk (as the name suggests).

This bot has been written on the HiveMind 3.3 Source code, so credit to [MoD]Cha0s C0ntr0L for the basic code.

I download teh Rcbot and install him and it's work. But the bot walk from on side of the room to the other side. The Aliens follow me or stand in my base and turm around. I don't no what I do false by the insatll or the configure of the bot.

Actually, I now know how to fix it.

Go to your Half-Life\ns folder

Create a new text file (set your system to 'Show File Extensions For Known File Types' ) and rename it to "bots.cfg"

in the bots.cfg file type

rcbot addbot 1
hive_add
hive_add
hive_add
rcbot addbot 1
rcbot addbot 1

and in game type 'exec bots.cfg' (without quotes) in the console.
