HL1 engine really isn't capable realized our imaginations. The best moment was, when I had about 40% of map done and then I had noticed, that I was on 75% of leaves and on 95% of clipnodes. And the Allockblock is another chapter (the worse).

believe me, I want to release the map BADLY! but since I have started reworking the last hive environment, I am not too shure if the release is possible this weekend.
but I see one good point: now I can change the weldable entrance to a weldable siegeposition. let me explain why: first I thought three entrances would be great but soon realized, that this might cause some problems. so I thought about the problem and the solution is simple. from within the source entrance you wont be able to siege the hive. you first have to weld the security doors open to get nearer to the hive. this position also is NOT accesible with onos from the hive side, so you have to take a longer route if you have to attack. however, skulks, lerks and fades can easily attack through kind of "vent". its more like a roadblock in this area. even jetpackers should have theitr fun here ^^ might be interesting. will post some screens on how I change the areas when I am far enough. sense of all this: MASSIVE reduction of clipnotes (new hydraulic ramp area simplyfied), get rit of the leaf errors (by replacing the problem are with a more "straith" one) and the beta-version of the source access (is a little bit rough atm).

The Mess is beautiful, me likes.
Overall it has a Mineshaft + Core feel to it, which I like.
Oh and in Source Access those bionic arm looking things are teh sex.

to do (not too important just to keep in mind): - bugfix (entities) - texture alignment (some rocks locking weird) - fixing location names - adding environment sounds - new ready room (although the present one is quite acceptable) thats it.
good news: I made a complete redesign of hive surroundings in about 1 day. I changed the idea of the siege position back to the third route idea while its very easy for aliens to strike back and very hard for marines to settle down. it even looks more detailed. and it looks more scary. and it makes more sense. and the r_speeds are quite ok.
bad news: dont know, had this <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84382&st=0&#entry1310199' target='_blank'>ERROR after compiling</a>. thats what keeps me from doinfg anything. I spend 4 hours in fixing this error. but I cant get rit of it. I have to say that Im very frustrated at the moment. mapping uses up all my energy. this "try and error"-compiling is too much for my head.
its just... its just plain stupid. I just dont know what to do. in all the years of mapping I NEVER had been this annoyed by my hobby...
seriously, I have got NO energy left to do ANYTHING on this project. maybe I will wait a week or two, doing something different at the weekends not just mapping. maybe I will have a good idea how to get things working.
thats so annoying, spending months on mapping and now Im not able to compile it, although the map itself is finished.
Oh no you don't, i don't come out of my little hole and read through 18 pages only to find out that you can't be arsed anymore. I'm not normally one for posting on these forums anymore, you have to read through 10 poor threads to find 1 decent screenshot. But this map, the excitment it has generated, the level of innovation and uniqueness, it reminds me of when i first released screenshots of ns_forsaken. It's an incredible looking map, so fresh and different, i absolutely love it. I swear you've actually stolen ideas from my head and put them down on the grid, it's so inspiring to see something like this. Yes that's right, me, MrBen, the guy who now hates HL editing is inspired! If you need help fixing max clipnodes i'm your guy - spent the better part of 3 days just optmising the hell out of what i had done on ns_forsaken.
thx mr. ben. thats the support that keeps one working. I fixed the join-teams problem and compiled the map witthout the last hive. I realized that the actual clipnotes are only little abouve the limit so it could be fixed easily by reworking some areas I guess.

but I see one good point: now I can change the weldable entrance to a weldable siegeposition.
let me explain why:
first I thought three entrances would be great but soon realized, that this might cause some problems. so I thought about the problem and the solution is simple.
from within the source entrance you wont be able to siege the hive. you first have to weld the security doors open to get nearer to the hive. this position also is NOT accesible with onos from the hive side, so you have to take a longer route if you have to attack. however, skulks, lerks and fades can easily attack through kind of "vent". its more like a roadblock in this area. even jetpackers should have theitr fun here ^^ might be interesting. will post some screens on how I change the areas when I am far enough.
sense of all this: MASSIVE reduction of clipnotes (new hydraulic ramp area simplyfied), get rit of the leaf errors (by replacing the problem are with a more "straith" one) and the beta-version of the source access (is a little bit rough atm).

Mining Area G3 Access looks good but please set the water to have some kind of transparency, it looks out of place.
The Mess is beautiful, me likes.
Overall it has a Mineshaft + Core feel to it, which I like.
Oh and in Source Access those bionic arm looking things are teh sex.

Just make your own water texture and make it darker.

- bugfix (entities)
- texture alignment (some rocks locking weird)
- fixing location names
- adding environment sounds
- new ready room (although the present one is quite acceptable)

good news:
I made a complete redesign of hive surroundings in about 1 day. I changed the idea of the siege position back to the third route idea while its very easy for aliens to strike back and very hard for marines to settle down. it even looks more detailed. and it looks more scary. and it makes more sense. and the r_speeds are quite ok.
bad news:
dont know, had this <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84382&st=0&#entry1310199' target='_blank'>ERROR after compiling</a>. thats what keeps me from doinfg anything. I spend 4 hours in fixing this error. but I cant get rit of it. I have to say that Im very frustrated at the moment. mapping uses up all my energy. this "try and error"-compiling is too much for my head.
its just... its just plain stupid. I just dont know what to do. in all the years of mapping I NEVER had been this annoyed by my hobby...

seriously, I have got NO energy left to do ANYTHING on this project. maybe I will wait a week or two, doing something different at the weekends not just mapping. maybe I will have a good idea how to get things working.
thats so annoying, spending months on mapping and now Im not able to compile it, although the map itself is finished.
thats the support that keeps one working.
I fixed the join-teams problem and compiled the map witthout the last hive. I realized that the actual clipnotes are only little abouve the limit so it could be fixed easily by reworking some areas I guess.
