They seem to stack, but it may be because players run around alot, and I'm spraying spore clouds everywhere, so they may just be getting killed faster because they run into another spore cloud. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
I was under the impression that they stack from multiple players. As in if you, as a lerk, use spore cloud twice in the same area it doesn't stack. However, if your buddy comes along and makes another one they WILL stack.

Any number of spore clouds (from the same or different players) will stack - this is the primary reason it was switched from a two- to a three-hive weapon. Spore spam is deadly. By contrast, Umbra DOES NOT stack. You are either in an umbra, or not. If you are, it blocks 6/7 bullets.
Umbra stacking would be pretty pointless, OR it would make you invincible, if it worked at all. It would either be "blocks 6.2-6.5-6.7-etc/7" which would be illogical and wouldn't compute, or "blocks 7/7 haha screw you marines".

funny thing today, this lerk cast umbra and charged at me (i was quite far) so by the time he got to me...he was dead...i think he though the umbra followed him
i think you should be able 2 target where umbra goes...for me it goes basically where u r...
Technically, umbra stacking really wouldn't do anything either way, since its a x/x ratio, it would be 2x/x, the same thing just multiplied. IE, stacked umbra, 12/14 shots pass through. The same as 6/7.

Many times i cast umbra only to find that i'm too far and the fades have to leave it to attack *sigh*.
Yeah i agree, a lerk can only take so much and if he goes inside the base to do umbra he will get torn up in a matter of seconds, i say you make it be able to be shot at but no longer then ~20 metres or make it a bigger area of spores, like 3 times the size.
I am a big fan of the Lerk. I think they have the widest range of weapons that lets it be one of the most versitle units in the game.
I find they are deadly in an indirect way. Protecting your team with Umbras, suppressing a corridor, room, or enemy position with Spore Clouds, quietly and systematically taking out turrets from a hidden ledge up high, they can make a huge impact without directly aggressing Marines. This is not to say they aren't good against LA Marines, I've Umbra/Chomped my share of them!
Basically a Lerk can take care of anything but full scale base assaults, large turret farms, GLs, or heavies. For those tasks you want to hook up with a Fade and then god help the marines who stand in your way.
Here are a few umbra tips I use:
If you get Adrenaline you will notice that you can recover enough 'energy' to cast Umbra before your last Umbra has completely dissipated. This can allow you to Chain together Umbras which is very useful.
NEVER walk into an assault, always fly. Lerks can REALLY get going with only a couple flaps so use it to your advantage to dodge incoming fire.
Using Lerks is really about patience and being tactically flexibility, you can do an awful lot with a Lerk if you utilize it's skills where they are best suited so don't limit yourself to head-on fighting/spore casting.
