I'm looking on the bright side, though, since I've never been and will never be able to afford an iPod: with the release of this puppy, odds are good that Apple will release iPhoto for Windows.
Same price for same size, more stuff.
edit: something else than crushing everyone with huge marketing.
When will they release a video playing iPod, i really don't see the point of an iPod that can look at pictures.
The Black U2 iPod looks nice though.

How much memory is on that? It gives vague descriptions of how many songs/movies/pictures it can hold.
And yah, I wish I could afford an iPod.

I don't understand the hype about those overrated ipods which can do nuts.

The Gmini 400 is just the model, the last two numbers show the drive capacity. So far there's only the 420 which means 20 GB. Plus Flash reader.
It's not huge but gets a normal sized music library with a couple of movies on there. And it's roughly the same size/weight as the iPod.

20 GB is more than I know what to do with. I think I'll add this to my xmas list.
It will get really interesting when they start making iPods that work as mp3 player, data storage, cell phone, camera, alarm clock and so on.
What I really like, though, is the Special Edition, except for the fact that its more expensive and it's U2 (who cares about U2?). I wish they have made the iPod in black and white from the beginning on.
Go be happy with your kajillion dollar mp3 players.
I'll be happy with a nomad 2. Reasonably priced and it does a hell of a lot.
Except for the fact that it's way smaller than any CD player, hold way more songs, and you don't have to carry CDs with you any more.

And, when you buy the cd player, you've got AT LEAST 200-300$ left over.
In the world where people magically have all the money they want, you might want an iPod
But in the REAL WORLD where people MAKE THEIR OWN MONEY it's important to make ECONOMICAL DECISIONS.
Yay for cousin who works at Fry's which got me an ipod mini.
Some people might consider that buying an iPod is a good decision.
I decided that shelling out those extra bucks was worth it, and by god it is. My CD's can collect dust, I'm tired of bringing piles of CD's anywhere.
edit: Sure the iPod is expensive, but I make it up in some other area where I don't spend as much.

But being I got a $50 .mp3 CD Player, I now have hundreds more than you which I can use to buy Cargo pants, for all my carrying needs.

I'm glad SOMEONE linked to the blasted thing. Don't forget iRiver is making one as well. PMC's may make it big, or they may not. Who knows.

Well seeing as a cd is 700 MB and the average CD case costs $5 and holds 20 cds..
$50 player + $5 case + $5 for 20 cds = $60, and, yep, that iPod is still >$60.
Oh and stop wearing tight leather and get a jacket with actual pockets, whoa! that CD player is like so much easier to carry dude!
