<div class="IPBDescription">Dark sections where light is</div> I have several sections in my map where I have dark patches right next to where I placed lights. Its like my lights aren't showing up at all or something is blocking them. I don't know. I'm using -sparse, but sparse hasn't cause problems before.

any ideas?

any info you need just ask

sounds a bit like the gfx card problem I had a while ago. try pointing the flashlight at that position, if they go away, you know it's the gfx card. But nevertheless..
a screenshot maybe? because other than that, "dark patches" is a bit vague.

    are these texture lights?
if so maybe they arent listed in the lights.rad or you forgot to enter them into the info_textlights entity

make the light brush a func_wall. if you leave it as worldspawn it will chop into the wall and give you undesired lighting problems.

You might want to play around with your VIS and RAD settings in your compiler. Using commands to minimize compile time can often do weird things with lighting detail as well as overall quality.

My lighting problems happen with both texture and point based lights

Here are some screen shots I hope they help.

Here is what the vent looks like in hammer there are several red point lights with a brightness of 50, but in some parts the vents are completely black. Like it said, it's like somethings overlaying them and blockthem them all out.

Here's what it looks like in game, and I have adjusted the contrast and brightness a little to make it easier to see the distinction of where the light is hitting and where it isn't.

This last one shows weird shadowing that I'm getting and I shouldn't be. The shadows seem to go through walls and show up on achetecture in another room. I'm fairly sure this is related.

Are you using p15 RAD? Cause if so, try changing to p13 RAD.
