No im talking of popularity and the similarity of the situations him and Sir Winston Churchill were in. The whole idea of bombing Iraq is non sequitur really.
Back then such an act like 9/11 would of called for total nuclear commitment and I see no problem with putting a true fear of god into them.

So no, I don't blame him. He's already been attacked, somebody made a smart decision, and that's about it. We really need some way to fight back at these idiots. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> eediot - You have really, truly terrified me with this sentiment. The Internet is one of the last bastions of 'free' in the world, and it's rapidly becoming just as sanitised and controlled as everything else. To lock out a website by country (especially from a nations leader, and <b>especially</b> from the biggest nations leader) sets a horrifying precendent.
1. Most attacks (even DDoS) are preventable. Especially with the sort of resources that website should have accesible to it. Any justifcation for security reasons either means a complete idiot is running the hosting, or it's completely flawed.
2. Most attacks that do hit websites are geographically local to them. Simply put, even a DDoS requires some form of activation, and it's easy to propagate trojans/worms etc through local IP ranges. Look at Blaster/Welchia for confirmation of this.
The prospect of 'This is <b>OUR</b> bit of the Internet, you can't go here' is absolutely terrrifying, because once someone starts, it's bound to continue. I'm reminded of the Blue Ribbon campaign from several years ago.
The episode kinda sums up the whole administration for me - "why should we provide content for people not voting in the next election" ? Idiots. AND they can't even get the blocking right. Ok, it'd be hard (read impossible) to firewall off the rest of the world, but pulling out a tiny e-wang and shaking it at the global intermawebnet community is going to make them laugh at best, and annoy them at worst.
Depends how you define 'free'. I doubt the internet is as free-speech, safe and liberal as people would like to believe. Call me paranoid, but while I don't wear tinfoil hats, I believe that the internet makes it easier to delve into people's private and business lives. But that's irrelevent. And for the record, not that it matters due to the severe inability of forum-goers to actually read posts before they reply, but I don't support or condone segregation of any forms on the internet [excepting, of course, the social segregation and possible destruction of the Steam and counterstrike forums], but my stance on preventing internet attacks is the same as my stance on terrorist attacks and any other intimidating threat-attacks; and that is, to bring the perpertrators on equal footing. They committed heinous crimes, by whatever definition you choose, and simply digging better trenches and battening the hatches is not good enough. We as a race and a society have the power to track these people down and bring the responsibility and consequences of their actions upon them, instead of upon us. It is the inability of governments to properly adjust to growing technology like the internet and the communication between the governments on a global medium that is allowing these scum "organisations" to terrorise people and businesses unhindered.

I meant my call for the 'Security' issue is that there is no <b>requirement</b> to completely block an IP Range. As a Network Consultant, that approach stinks of lax security procudures elsewhere that require it. If nothing else, anyone with at least a modicum of Internet knowledge (Such as someone wanting to attack the site) can bypass it anyway (proxy, and you can still DDoS/Hack using NA/Can IP based hosts). The only people affected will be the average user, which is why I wonder how this is intended.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->They committed heinous crimes, by whatever definition you choose, and simply digging better trenches and battening the hatches is not good enough.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
1) I'm a greasy teenager with the mental capabilities of aristotle's left sandal. You are a network consultant, who gets paid to comment on the topic matter. I have a knowledge that stems from slight boredom a year ago. You have a job. I'm not going to argue with you on the security measures of the website, because I will be wrong. Suffice to say, my first post was with an understocked knowledge of the situation.
2) Nowhere in my posts did I advocate inaction or a defence-oriented substitute. If my wording was unclear in some part of my post(s), then I apologise for the misunderstanding, but my meaning from my last post was fairly clear - I want action and justice.
With apologies to Kerry lovers (tbh I've never actually met someone who though Kerry was good, they just thought he had the best chance of beating Bush so they support him), this is probably an attempt to, in a small way, fight hacking attempts. Apparently its easy to get around - but they are trying to isolate the rest of the world because its damn hard to prosecute an indonesian hacker, but comparitively easy to prosecute an American/Canadian.
So unless you were voting for the Bush Admin because you thought they had l33t h5x0r pc sk1llz0rs + m4st4rs 0f t3h 1nt4|2w3b and have just made the technological equivalent of having their pants fall down infront of the cheerleading team, then this should make precisely zip difference to you.

Hemmm....
Thing is when people post pictures from kerrysucks.com how authentic do you think will be. Visiting sites like that in no way promotes intelligence, it's totally one sided although i guess that's what it's supposed to be. Your better off visiting a unbiased website and decide thing using a little more brain power, not listening to a site which repeats Kerry bad, Bush Goood.
It also seems that people that think bush is in some way good are in favour of war, etc. For example Uzi being in the army. Fair enough but common, bush is trying to run the place like it's constantly under seige. It's insane, using fear to pull in the voters where there isn't really any need for it.

Why not compare by saying, "well, I think of Bush as the modern day Winston Churchill because they are both Homo Sapiens" and call it a night?
Tacking "I expect insults over this" on the end of your post really annoys me. You seem to be implying that henceforth any comment on the subject which is in opposition to your statement should be labelled as an insult.
